Hello Sierra Nevada Region Members, Friends and Sponsors!
Who’s excited about SDR? I am! Besides having great workshops and a chance to see new and longtime friends from around the Region I wanted to tell you about a little surprise we have planned for our opening lunch at our Soroptimist Development Retreat (SDR). SI Placerville has a little history surprise for us, they have found a letter in their safe deposit box recently and found a sealed envelope labeled “Do not open until August 16, 2025” so guess what? We are going to open this letter on August 16 at SDR
during our opening lunch! What fun! The envelope was dated August 16, 1985, SI Placerville’s Life Members and long-standing members don’t remember anything about this letter and its contents. It could be interesting. So, we shall see.
On another note, I wanted to Congratulate Terrell Locke our Region’s Bylaws & Procedures Coordinator who was recently named to SIA’s newly formed “Club/Region Governing Documents Task Force”. Congratulations Terrell, well deserved.
Another big Congratulations go out to our very own Federation Membership Chair Holly Nash. Holly has been asked by SIA HQ to be a presenter at the 2026 SIA Convention in South Korea! Another great honor! Holly will be working with SIA on a membership workshop at the convention. I’ll be there cheering her on! Great job Holly!
I can’t forget to give a shout out to our Region Strategic Planning Coordinator, Linda Fitzgibbons. Linda recently traveled to South Lake Tahoe, to facilitate the SI South Lake Tahoe Club with their Club Operating Plan on July 23. Check out the pictures from the planning session below. Great Job Linda, that’s our Leadership Team in action.

You know what is special about today? It’s August 1 and that means the Live Your Dream portal is now OPEN! With the new club year already here, make sure your club’s Live Your Dream coordinator has all the new resources from SIA. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to our very own Region Live Your Dream Coordinator Billie Arazia. See her article below for more information.
I also wanted to remind all you club presidents recently your Region District Directors emailed a quick survey for club presidents. Thanks to those who have already done the survey and returned it to us. We are compiling data and will also be surveying members at our Fall District Meetings on the possibility of combining SDR and annual Region’s Spring Conference. Please be sure to return those surveys to your District Directors before our round of Fall District meetings start so we make sure we get everyone’s
input. As it looks right now, we will not be combining the 2026 Region Spring Conference and SDR next year as we will be celebrating our 50 th Anniversary as a Region and we did not want to take away from that celebration. We will be offering two workshops at the Region Conference for incoming club Treasurers and President. The region leadership team felt that this was important information that clubs will need prior
to July 1, 2026, the start to the new club year.
I wanted to also relay a recent change to the SIA Procedures that was made at the SIA Board of Directors meeting in June 2025. The SIA Board of Directors approved the following modifications to the SIA Procedures which affect region conferences and the biennial convention. I wanted to include this link so you can see the rationale behind the changes. Frequently Asked Questions I encourage all clubs to review these changes. I’m sure we will have a lot of discussions moving forward. Please note these
changes are effective now and SIA is encouraging regions to begin planning accordingly.
I am looking forward to seeing you all in August at SDR!

With gratitude and love
