SNRS BYLAW AMENDMENT NOTIFICATION

New Governing Board Position - Vice-President-Elect

The SNRS Governing Board voted to amend the Bylaws and add a position to the Board called Vice-President-Elect.


Since this is an amendment to the SNRS Bylaws, it requires a 30-day notice in advance of the vote by the membership which will take place at the SNRS Membership Town Hall Meeting. The SNRS Membership Town Hall Meeting will be during the SNRS Annual Conference in Charlotte, NC on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at 1:45 PM.


The amendement to the SNRS Bylaws for the Vice-President-Elect position -


Section 3. Terms of Office.

A. The terms of the President, Vice-President, Secretary/Treasurer and Directors-at-Large shall be for two years or until a successor is elected. The President-Elect and Vice-President-Elect shall serve a two-year term immediately preceding the assumption of the presidency post. The same persons then assume two-year terms as President and Vice-President.

1. The President-Elect, Secretary/Treasurer and three Directors-at-Large shall take office in the even years.

2. The Vice-President-Elect and three Directors-at-Large shall take office in the odd years.

B. Terms of the Governing Board members shall begin at the close of the Annual Business Meeting that follows the election.

C. President, President-Elect, Vice-President, Vice-President-Elect, Secretary/Treasurer, or Directors-at-Large shall serve no more than two consecutive terms in any one office.

D. Service in an office for a portion of a term greater than one-half shall constitute a term.


The duties of the Vice-President-Elect shall be:


  1. Prepare to assume responsibilities of Vice President.
  2. Respond to requests for input by President, Vice President and staff.
  3. Serve as a member of the Program Planning Committee
  4. Identifies and liaises with Local Planning Committee at desired the conference venue
  5. Learn policies and procedures associated with all aspects of the Annual Conference and educational offerings.
  6. Responsible for special projects as assigned by the President and/or Board.
  7. Review the procedures and criteria for evaluation and selection of abstracts for symposia, papers and/or posters to be presented at the Annual Conference and educational offerings
  8. Perform other duties as directed by the Vice President.
