Save the Michaels is speaking at the Alcohol and Substance Abuse Providers (ASAP) of New York State Convention held in Buffalo at the Hyatt Regency Downtown.

The public is invited to attend our pre-conference breakout session on Sunday Sept. 17th from 1:00-5:00 pm . We would like to see you there! The link below explains the details.
Save the date! FOR-NY (Friends of Recovery NY) is sponsoring the session. Save the Michaels is also sponsoring a session on Tuesday morning from 10:30 - 12 noon.


NEW! Parent Grief Support Group Details

The Parent Grief Support Group will now be meeting ONE time each month , (instead of twice,) on the 2nd Thursday of every month.

Please make a note of this change in schedule.


The group will have it's next meeting on
Thursday, September 14th at 6:30pm .

We also would like to welcome our new group leader, Marilyn Gentile.
Grandparent Support Group
The Grandparent Support Group will meet at 11 Summer St. on Thurs. August 31 from 6:30 - 7:30pm. Please join us.
We're MOVING in October!
Great news! Save the Michaels will be at 737 Delaware Ave. in the building between Catholic Charities and Clauss & Co., and across the street from the United Way. The nearest intersection is Delaware and Summer Street. Stay tuned!
Coach's Spotlight
Our Recovery Coach of the Month for August is Barbara "Babs" Howard.

Barbara Howard (Babs) is a native of Western New York. She and her husband, Craig reside in Kenmore where they raised their 3 sons. They are blessed with a grandson and granddaughter and are expecting another granddaughter any minute. Babs has worked at Women & Children’s Hospital as a Clinical Scientist for over 30 yrs.

Babs lost 2 brothers to the disease of addiction and has a son in recovery. She has been a part of the Recovery Community for the past 10 years providing education, resources and support to families. Babs does monthly presentations on the Renaissance Campus for families. She also gives lectures to medical professionals and students at Daemen college on the “Collateral Damage of Addiction”. Most recently Babs has taken a position on the Opioid Task Force and became trained as an “Angel” to assist families. She is passionate about de-stigmatizing the disease of addiction so that individuals and their families get the support and treatment they need and are entitled to receive. Babs is pursuing her certification as a Peer Advocate and is grateful to have the support and resources of Save the Michaels to assist her in providing support to families that are struggling with the disease of addiction in Western New York.

Laura took care with every concern we had, and she crafted each detail with expertise. Save the Michaels is all about outreach and connectivity. Without a proficient website for public access, people can't research our work. Laura made this happen for us. Laura LaTona is a Branding, Marketing, Communications Specialist with Iris Eye Creative. The mission of Iris Eye Creative is to approach all client projects with creativity and panache, provide services with flair, the highest-level professionalism, courtesy, and elegance.
