LGBTQIA+2 Communities & Domestic Violence
By: Molly Conway, M.S - Community Outreach Coordinator
Domestic violence and IPV (intimate partner violence) impacts individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersexed, asexual and/or Two-Spirit in many ways. It has only been since recent times that violence against individuals within the LGBTQIA+2 community has been acknowledged. Reported instances of domestic violence and IPV against people who identify as LGBTQIA+2 indicate that there is just as much violence, if not more, occurring within LGBTQIA+2 relationships as compared to heterosexual relationships.
