We'd like to take a moment to thank all of our supporters and community members for their generosity during the holiday season. Your support and commitment to our mission is invaluable and allows us to continue to provide ongoing, no-cost services to our clients.

Please see below to learn about some highlights we would like to share about our valued donors.
Esperanza's Youngest Donor
7 year old, Dominic Sanchez-Zubia became Esperanza's youngest donor this holiday season.
Dominic's father and mother have been active members of the Esperanza family for many years. The staff and board members have been a part of Dominic's life-journey since he was an infant and continue to be to this day.

This year for Christmas, Dominic decided to join his family's commitment to Esperanza -- with a big smile on his face, Dominic donated all of the birthday money he had.

When Dominic spoke with Anji Estrellas, Esperanza's Executive Director, about his donation he told her "I wanted to donate to Esperanza Shelter because my daddy cares so much for it."

It's so heartwarming to have little Dominic believe in the mission of Esperanza and to give his birthday money to help support our cause. We're so grateful for you Dominic!" said Estrellas.
Transitional Housing
Due to the COVID pandemic and social distancing requirements, Esperanza Shelter moved our emergency shelter clients from our previous shelter site to transitional housing in December.

Marcos Zubia, Director of Development called Debbie DeMarais of DeMarais Home Staging and Design to see if she'd be interested in partnering with us. Debbie immediately volunteered to head the project and work as our liasion. She worked closely with local donors and consignment stores to secure furniture for each unit. She donated 26 hours to help us with this initiative and long-term goal for our agency.

"I am appreciative of the services Esperanza provides to domestic violence survivors in our community and to be part of this initiative has been an honor," said DeMarais.

"We're thankful for the countless hours that Debbie donated and the care and thoughtfulness she gave to each unit for our clients to feel at home while receiving emergency services," said Anji Estrellas, Executive Director.

Thank you Debbie for being an Investor in Hope, we could not have done this without you!
Holiday Meals Provided to Clients
During November and December, Mi Santa Catering partnered with Esperanza to provide one home-cooked meal per week to clients in shelter -- their generous donation totaled $2,426.

Chef Carmen and Penny Rodriguez wanted to give back to the community and selected Esperanza as one of their receipants for their community program, "Feed it Forward".

Esperanza clients loved the home cooked meals provided. Many thanks to you all at Mi Santa Catering!
Hope Speaks - Community Trainings
Please join Esperanza Shelter’s Outreach Department, Hope Speaks, for a free presentation on Domestic Abuse and learn about the support services we provide. Upcoming Zoom presentations are scheduled during the lunch hour (12 noon – 1 PM) on the following Wednesdays:

January 13th, 20th & 27th
