Message From the SOBP President
Dear Colleagues,
As we approach the SOBP Annual Meeting, I’m delighted to share some exciting updates that reflect the strength and continued growth of our Society.
This year’s meeting has seen remarkable engagement. We received over 1,200 conference and abstract submissions, reflecting the depth and wide range of research in our field. We are pleased to feature more than 1,000 poster presentations, alongside a vibrant schedule of 40 symposia that highlight innovation across the biological psychiatry spectrum.
We are also proud to welcome this year’s Travel Award recipients, whose work represents the future of our discipline. Supporting these scholars remains a central priority for SOBP and we look forward to see their presentations at the upcoming meeting.
Our membership continues to grow both geographically and across career stages as shown below. Society is actively exploring new ways to support members through expanded mentoring programs and enhanced educational content throughout the year.
Recent shifts in the broader U.S. landscape have presented new challenges for scientific and clinical communities. The Society is committed to advocating for continued support of biomedical research and evidence-based psychiatric care. We remain in close communication with other organizations, including amongst others the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology, the American Psychiatric Association, the American Brain Coalition and the Society for Neuroscience to ensure that the voices of our members are represented and heard. Please find links to these joint statements here and here
In closing, I would like to thank all of you for your ongoing contributions to the Society and to the field of biological psychiatry. I look forward to seeing many of you in Toronto
Warm Regards
Sophia Frangou, MD, PhD, FRCPsych, FRCPC
