Ruth Ellis Center Plans New Housing for LGBT Youth in Detroit
For the past 20 years, the Ruth Ellis Center has served the needs of runaway, homeless, and at-risk LGBTQ+ youth in the Detroit area through such efforts as its drop-in center, street outreach program, foster home, and health and wellness center. Now, the Ruth Ellis Center is taking on a new venture in building a $15 million mixed-use development to provide subsidized living and support to LGBTQ+ young adults who may otherwise become homeless. Ruth Ellis Center Inc. plans to develop 43 units of housing on top of health care, entrepreneurial, and community space in Detroit. “Since 1999, the Ruth Ellis Center has worked hard to build a full continuum of housing options for LGBTQ young people experiencing homelessness and unstable housing,” says Jerry Peterson, executive director. “We are both proud and humbled to have such extraordinary partners to make this essential leap forward in the evolution of solutions to youth homelessness in Detroit. What Does Intersex Mean? | Pop'n'Olly
Everybody’ s body is different. Learn about what intersex means and how to support intersex people in this short video. Pop’ n’ Olly is an educational resource used by children, parents, caregivers, and teachers. Its videos and books are used in United Kingdom primary schools and beyond to teach about equality and diversity and to combat homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia.
Supporting LGBTQ+ Youth During Troubling Times
The National Association of School Psychologists’ handout, Supporting LGBTQ+ Youth During Troubling Times , provides educators, mental health professionals, parents, and caregivers with helpful background information and strategies to support at-risk LGBTQ+ youth. Risk factors, legal and ethical considerations, specific strategies, recommendations, and community resources are detailed. 
Gender-Inclusive Guide to Puberty and Health Education
Ed ucators who teach elementary-age students about puberty now have a resource to help make their lessons as inclusive as possible. The new  publication, Principles of Gender-Inclusive Puberty and Health Education, from Gender Spectrum  focuses on five key principles for gender-inclusive puberty health and education: teaching students gender literacy; helping them understand natural variation; emphasizing physiology instead of gender; describing the “ many pathways” that children can grow into adult bodies; and, similarly, explaining the different pathways to starting a family.

Homelessness and Housing Experiences Among LGBTQ Young Adults in Seven U.S. Cities
This study uses a seven-city sample of 442 LGBTQ young adults (YA) experiencing homelessness to examine the homelessness and housing experiences of LGBTQ YA — including specific experiences of marginalized and understudied subgroups — and compares these experiences across racial subgroups. The study fills a critical gap in the literature by identifying differential experiences of subgroups within the LGBTQ YA homeless population that can better inform program and policy interventions designed to prevent and end homelessness among young adults.
2019 Black and African American LGBTQ Youth Report | HRC Foundation
The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation, in partnership with the University of Connecticut, has released the  Black & African American LGBTQ Youth Report, a groundbreaking resource  detailing the experiences of black and African-American LGBTQ youth. This resource presents data collected from these youth, shedding light on their challenges and triumphs encountered while navigating multiple, intersecting identities. Responses were analyzed from nearly 1,700 young people, ranging in age from 13 to 17, who participated in HRC’s online  2017 LGBTQ Teen Survey .
A Longitudinal Study of IPV Victimization Among Sexual Minority Youth
Although intimate partner violence (IPV) is highly prevalent among LGBT youth, little is known regarding its developmental patterns, risk factors, or health-related consequences. This study examined IPV victimization in an ethnically diverse, community-based convenience sample of 248 LGBT youth (ages 16-20 at study outset) who provided six waves of data across a five-year period. Results from multilevel models indicated high, stable rates of IPV victimization across this developmental period (ages 16-25 years) that differed among demographic groups. Overall, 45.2 percent of LGBT youth were physically abused and 16.9 percent were sexually victimized by a dating partner during the study.

New Policy Report from Center for the Study of Social Policy
Supporting All Our Values: How Publicly Funded, Faith-Based Child Welfare Providers and Non-Discrimination Laws Can Promote Well-Being
This report addresses the importance of promoting child well-being, the role of non-discrimination policies in achieving this, examples of partnerships between states and faith-based agencies, and recommendations for how states can ensure the best interest of children and families are met through these partnerships. Also included is a 50-state matrix of laws, regulations, and policies that protect youth in foster care from discrimination based on SOGIE.

Massachusetts House Passes Bill Protecting Youth from Dangerous 'Conversion Therapy'
HRC celebrated a vote by the Massachusetts House of Representatives to pass bipartisan legislation protecting LGBTQ youth from the dangerous and discredited practice of so-called “ conversion therapy.” The bill will head to the Massachusetts Senate, and, if enacted, Massachusetts will become the 16th state in the United States to protect youth from this egregious practice.
