1965 FORD MUSTANG
SHELBY GT 350 TRIBUTE CAR
VIN: 5F09T17700
263 MILES TMU
This vehicle started life as a 1965 Ford Mustang fastback with a Pony interior. At approximately the same time this car was built, on the west coast, former LeMans winning driver Carroll Shelby with the help of Ford Motor Company was converting a limited number of fastbacks into Shelby GT 350s. These were very successful race cars and developed a cult following for street drivers and collectors both then and now. As a result some owners of Mustang fastbacks chose to convert their cars into copies of Shelby GT 350s. The car offered here is one of those – a Shelby Mustang GT 350 Tribute purchased by the current owner in August, 2022 from a private client in Belleville, MI who sold the car after her husband died.
The exterior of the car offered here is an excellent copy of the GT 350. $10,000 was paid to paint the correct shade of Wilmington White accompanied by broad Guardsman Blue dual racing stripes across the middle of the hood, roof and deck lid (America’s racing colors back in the day). A GT 350 hood, complete with hood scoop and hood lock pins covers the engine compartment plus Magnum 500 15”x 7” styled steel wheels. The brakes are power disc; the steering is manual.
This is an older complete restoration and modification. NOTE: 13 PAGES OF HAND WRITTEN NOTES DETAILING ALL ASPECTS OF THE MODIFICATIONS AND UPGRADES ARE INCLUDED.
The original motor has been replaced with a modified 302 cu in Ford engine with a 30 overbore resulting in 308 cu in. Other modifications include Keith Black pistons, an Edelbrock top end kit, Hooker headers, Holley carburetor and an MSD ignition and control box. The result is a car that is fast and loud. The transmission is a crate C4 automatic. Rear end is equipped with a 3:55 gear. The front end has new springs and shock tower plus Shelby GT 350 traction bars. The front brakes are dual caliper.
.The car is in good condition but needs some attention in certain areas. The, oil pressure gauge does not work, the speedometer registers 5 mph more than the actual speed, the directional signals do not self-cancel and the aftermarket air conditioning blows cool, but not cold . Some squeaks and rattles were noticed when driven. Mileage reads 263 (TMU).
