1967 AUSTIN HEALEY 3000 MK III BJ8
Serial Number: HBJ8L38380
72,333 MILES
The last and the best. The 1967 Austin Healey 3000 Mk III BJ8 presented here represents the final year of the British “big” Healey production. It includes all the refinements and improvements throughout the 3000 model cycle which started in 1959. The in line 6 cylinder three liter engine was upgraded to 150 horsepower and with its 5 speed overdrive transmission and a weight of only 2548 lb. would accelerate from 0-60 mph in 8.4 seconds with a top speed of 119 mph. This performance was significantly better than its British 4 cylinder competition – MGB and Triumph TR4, and could give the more expensive Jaguar E Type a run for its money. Austin Healey enthusiasts generally consider the 1967 model to be the most collectible of the big Healeys.
The Healey offered here is the recipient of a full frame off nut and bolt restoration resulting in one of the finest Healeys available anywhere. The restoration was performed in 2007-8 and is fully documented with numerous photos and verbiage. At the time, the car was owned by Andy and Carolyn Fedus of Petoskey, MI. It was restored by Peter Schwindt III of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada and painted and assembled by Signage North (also in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario). Subsequently, the Feduses exhibited the vehicle at car shows in northern Michigan. Mr. Fedus died shortly thereafter and his daughter inherited the car. She stored the car in Traverse City, MI from 2010 to 2021, when it was sold to the current owner. Shortly after the current owner purchased it, he moved from northern Michigan to New England and left the car in Traverse City since he had no room for it at his new residence and as a result has decided to sell the vehicle.
The car is an outstanding example of a restoration to concours Austin Healey as can be seen by examining the attached pictures. Further, it is a correct specifications car with no modifications. The car was last serviced in 2020 and hardly driven since then. Its Michelin XZX 195 SR tires are in excellent condition. Some service records are available. The car starts and runs as it should and to our knowledge has never been in an accident. This exquisite Healey will make a wonderful addition to any car collection.
