The mid-engine Porsche Boxster has won Car and Driver magazine’s 10 Best cars list 23 times, from when the car debuted as a 1999 model to the present time – with a six-year 10 Best streak from 1998 until 2003. This car, a second-generation Boxster, is an example of that which won again starting in 2006, and has continued to do so – all for many good reasons.
Basalt Black Metallic exterior, with black top and Sand Beige leather interior. Factory options include Heated Front Seats, 18 inch Boxster S Wheels (with Michelin Pilot Super Sports tires mounted), Wheel Caps with Colored Crest, Automatic Climate Control, Sand Beige Floor Mats, Self-Dimming Mirrors & Rain Sensor, Bose System w/Windstop, Bi-Xenon Headlamp Package, Sand Beige Standard Leather, and Porsche Crest in Headrests. A dealer or previous owner added an internally mounted battery tender.
Owner-installed extras include mahogany shift knob and e-brake handle, all red Spyder tail lights, black (vs. silver) side air inlet grilles, clear front side marker lamps (original parts included) and LED Daytime Running Lights. Exhaust system is AP, with Vertex dual chrome tips (original OE system included). A second set of Starke Design SC18 (Fuchs replica, gloss black with machined & polished rims, 18 X 8 F, 18 X 10 R, no longer available) wheels with recent (DOT 1020) Continental Extreme Contact high performance all season tires are currently on the car.
Spares & extras include a complete set of new Brembo brake rotors, pads, hardware and sensors ($500), an extra set of new contrasting Porsche carpet floor mats, and a set of Weathertech floor liners. The car also comes pre-wired for a Valentine 1 detector, with its center console-mounted remote display and windshield mount included; also a CD slot mounted magnetic phone mount, a Bluetooth FM transmitter unit (enabling phone connection, music streaming, etc.).
The available Carfax report shows one accident (termed “minor damage”), with the car drivable, and properly repaired. The Carfax also contains service records from its original sale in July, 2006, through October, 2021.
Included are two keys, original books, and service records since Feb., 2010 9with detailed records & receipts since 20140. Engine oil (DT40 synthetic) and filter have been changed every 5,000 miles or less. The water pump & associated components have been replaced. A new Duracell AGM battery was installed 5/21. Recent service included an oil & filter change, a complete Porsche dealer inspection and new convertible top internal straps. The recent (12/21) DME scan shows zero ignitions/no over-revs in ranges 3 through 6.
Owned by a PCA member, It has been very well cared for, always garaged, and never driven on salted roads - so it is in excellent condition, mechanically and cosmetically. A proven capable and comfortable road trip car, and with a 0-60 mph time of 5.9 sec. and a top speed of 167 mph, it is a real driver’s car - totally at home with spirited drives on twisty back roads (and it has been on some of the best in the USA). It is only being sold now to make room for a newer one, in the same colors.
