Brickhouse Bar & Grill Recognized in NewsBreak

Big Congratulations to Kim Kobasic & Fred Reeves!

From humble beginnings as a video store in the late '90s, Brickhouse Bar & Grill has evolved into a cherished neighborhood hub. In its early days, there was uncertainty about its future—at one point, the property owner considered demolishing the building to construct a larger development that would include the adjacent parking lot.

Thanks to the support of friends, community fundraising, and other generous contributions, enough funds were raised for the owners to purchase the property. That pivotal moment ensured the restaurant's survival—and it's now been serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner for over 25 years. It’s especially known for its bustling weekend brunch scene.

“The space you’re sitting in now,” Kim shares, “was built by Freddy, single-handedly, over a year and a half. It’s more than just a restaurant—it’s our home, too.”

Report on Declining Crime Rates - Including a Quote from Our President

A brief summary...

While 2024 saw historically low crime rates, recent data shows that property crime in SoMa has increased by 29% in the first four months of 2025.

Although I haven’t personally seen a noticeable rise in property crime, I have observed that areas like Sixth Street and Jessie Street seem to be experiencing a resurgence of large gatherings involving drug use and dealing.

In response, SOMBA is organizing a town hall in July. We are encouraging city agencies to attend and share what steps they plan to take to address these issues.
