At Next Gen, we are all about sharing the good news of Jesus Christ! And we read in Scripture that Christ's birth is indeed part of this good news message.
In Luke's account of Christ's birth, an angel appears to the shepherds in the field and says, 10“Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord." (Luke 2:10-11). Praise God!
We can, of course, share this good news of Christ's birth all year round, as with other parts of the gospel. And it is true that we do not know the exact time or date of Christ's birth. But timely preaching seeks to address what is on people's minds and starts with something they are familiar with. Paul did this in Acts 17, where he used the tomb of the unknown God to tell people about God.
During the Christmas season, millions of people around the world see or hear something about Christ and his birth, and many are open to hearing more--praise God! What an incredible opportunity to tell people more about Jesus--his birth, life, ministry, death, burial, and resurrection!
