NEIGHBORING FAITHS VISIT TO TEMPLE ISRAEL | |
Last Friday, October 8th, we attended Shabbat service at Temple Israel in Westport. Our visit coincided with the celebration of Simchat Torah. Once a year the torah is unscrolled completely around the sanctuary and everyone has a chance to participate by holding the torah.
Rabbi Friedman had joined us at TUUCW the previous Sunday to introduce us to the way reformed Judaism is practiced at Temple Israel and to let us know what to expect when we visit. We were all very pleasantly surprised by the joy, the music and the number of young families with children. We have expressed our thanks to Rabbi Friedman as well as our support during this heartbreaking time.
Our next planned foray is to visit the Pentecostal Holiness Church (PHC) in Bridgeport, on Sunday October 29th .

MYSTICISM: WHERE SCIENCE, ART, AND SPIRITUALITY MEET
THURSDAYS 7:00−9:00 PM
| |
Bart Stuck (applied mathematician and physicist) and Marjorie Partch (Jungian astrologer) lead these weekly discussions, which follow readings and lectures on ancient concepts and cutting-edge theories, presenting fresh alternatives to the apparent dichotomy that:
| |
- Mainstream religion is an increasingly irrelevant part of daily life, with growing numbers citing their religious affiliation as NONE; materialism is ascendant everywhere;
- While Western science, after 500 years, finds it has been studying 5% of the Universe.
These stand-alone modular class units (AlephTalks.com/Syllabus) explore the wonder of the hidden unity and order of the world around us — the Uni-verse. Sources include The Tao of Physics, and correspondence between psychoanalyst C.G. Jung and physicist Wolfgang Pauli: Atom and Archetype.
To participate via ZOOM: bartstuck@gmail.com

The last class of the Kundalini Yoga series will be on Tuesday, October 17 beginning at 9:30 and ending at 11:00 at the Meeting House. The class will begin by learning a famous chant called the Mul Mantra for inner strength. This is additional to celebrate the completion of the series. Tuesday's asanas (postures) will be for Total Body Balance. The ending meditation will enhance your full potential using a mudra (hand position) and sound (mantra). To complete the class, the gong will be played for full mind, body and spirit integration. No pre-registration is required. Don't miss out on this special class.
