MASKS REQUIRED FOR ALL WHO ARE IN OUR BUILDINGS
Excerpt from Rev. John's email from Tuesday, August 3, 2021:
"Given the recent CDC reports and our own care and caution for all our congregants and friends, I have embraced the sound advice of our Reopen Committee, that has recommended that masks be worn within our buildings - regardless of our vaccination status.

Accordingly, may I ask anyone who is in our buildings to please wear a mask. Rest assured we will revisit this policy on a regular basis and update you when the situation changes."

Head Shot of HH
Faith Formation this summer is a great way to meet each other and Heather Hamilton, our Lead for Children's and Family Faith Formation. Look for her on Sunday mornings as you enter the main hallway. Children will gather, light the Chalice, talk, and engage in a fun art project. Parents are encouraged to come downstairs immediately following the service to see and hear all of what has transpired. Contact Heather for info. And if you'd like to help her out for a Sunday, please let her know!

Children's and Family Faith Formation Invites YOU to be a classroom teacher for Pre-K through grade 7. No previous experience necessary! We are asking for a month commitment to help teach our exciting Soul Matters curriculum and more! Share your love of learning and joy of being a UU with our children.

We would like 6 adults to help for this to be a success. No previous teaching experience is necessary nor do you need to be a parent to participate! ALL are welcome here.

For more information, please connect with Heather at heather@uuwestport.org, or call her 203.227.7205 ext 17. She welcomes all calls!
TAKE NOTE: This year we will have our traditional Homecoming Sunday Service on September 12, 2021. We are also going to have a Welcoming Sunday Service complete with EXPO two weeks later, on September 26, 2021.
NEXT STARTING POINT STARTING SEPTEMBER 9
Rev. John will be offering the next four session Soul Matters Starting Point program in September, on Thursday evenings: September 9, 16, 23, 30, 7:00-8:30 p.m. A rich and engaging program, each week will focus on different aspects of Unitarian Universalism, the history of our faith, and of our congregation. We will be sharing our spiritual journeys and getting to know one another. At the end of the program, the group will be invited to continue to meet monthly for at least a year as a Soul Matters Sharing Circle.

This program can be ideal for folks new to Unitarian Universalism, and/or new to our faith community here in Westport. A great way to get to know people in an intimate and powerful way. And of course it's always wonderful to have more familiar faces join in, too --

Contact lindalubin@gmail.com Soul Matters Program Coordinator for more information or to sign up.
KNOW A RECENT GRADUATE FROM TUCW?
Part of our engagement work centers around helping us staying connected with each other as a community. Before the summer is out, we'd like to celebrate all the GRADUATES who are off to new starts in September: college, or life after college. These are big milestones to honor - for the grads, and for their parents or caretakers.

SO - if you know of someone who has graduated this spring, please send Beth Cliff their names, their parent/caretakers's names, school they graduated from, and school (in case of HS graduation) they are going to. And then, stay tuned!

IMMIGRATION AND REFUGEE OUTREACH:
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Volunteers are needed Friday August 13th to box up and handout curbside pick-up dinners to families at Building One Community in Stamford. This outstanding organization provides many training programs and resources that help immigrant families successfully integrate into the community. We have greatly missed hosting spring and fall Family Night dinners at B1C during the pandemic. Thanks to Chef Julyen we have a plan to distribute dinners the same evening as children receive their back to school supplies. Please contact Kathy Roberts (kproberts@att.net) if you would like to participate or contribute to the dinner.
UU THE VOTE ACTIVITIES CONTINUE
Imagine your best dream of a multi-racial democracy - what does America look and sound like? You are invited - children, elders, and all ages - to reply to this question. Send a paragraph, image, poem, song, movement, or short video to jluongo3@optonline.net

Some responses may be shared at worship service with Nicole Pressley, UUA national leader of award winning UUtheVote, who we are thrilled will preach August 29 on our UU principle: democracy. Read her article in UU World: UU the Vote: All hands on deck.

Join our action: Urge Virginians to vote early, for governor, A.G., and 100 state delegates who decide voting rights. To pick up postcards, contact Jamie: jforbes1@gmail.com

To see actions and ideas on our bulletin board: Go to: tucwuuthevote@groups.io
