JOHN STREET BRIDGE BROWN BAG LUNCHES
|
|
Every Saturday is a miracle of love that comes in so many forms and from so many people helping folks at the John Street Bridge and P.T. Barnum community in Bridgeport; the over 29,000 Brown Bag Lunches that we’ve made, the books, diapers, extra holiday treats for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, Valentine’s Day, and Halloween provided, the winter clothing, sleeping bags, and more.
Today, a heartfelt Thank you! to the Shawl Ministry for their gifts! Doo-Rag, called “Rag,” loves the purple shawl that you knitted, blessed, and sent his way! He and his best friend (pictured in his arms) are very grateful.
Want to share in the love? Contact David Vita or call 203.227.7205 x14.

"BEING MORTAL" BREAKFAST & BOOK DISCUSSION:
NEXT SATURDAY, JANUARY 28 - 9:00 AM- NOON

|
Eldercare, aging, dying ... What do we need to know to prepare for this phase of life for ourselves, for those we love, and for those who might care for us? Join us next Saturday as we gather together to share perspectives, stories and insights from reading Atul Gawande's best-seller Being Mortal. This session is open to the public; feel free to bring friends. Don't have time to read it all, but want to join the conversation? Skim through an outline HERE. (Of course, the book is rich in detail and nuance and worth the time to read carefully.) Also, the PBS Frontline TV special is hugely useful. 54 minutes, HERE.
We will serve a sit-down, hot breakfast to start, so let us know you're coming, although walk-ins are welcome. RSVP to Beth Cliff or 203.227.7205 x 16

For more on its charter click HERE.
Current members are: Steve Grathwohl (Treasurer/Chair), Elena Rockman-Blake,
Mary-Jane Cross and Bob Trefry. Rev. John and Sue O'Meara our bookkeeper are ex officio.
