The TUUCW Nursery is closed. We hope to reopen soon so all are welcome to worship with peace of mind that their young ones are safe and having an excellent time with our trained caregivers.
The K-3rd grade class is exploring October’s theme, The Gift of Heritage, using the metaphor of roots that nourish a tree. Roots give us the gift of courage and wisdom when times get sketchy.
The 4-7th grade class continues to analyze Pixar Shorts to spark a UU focused discussion this week. They are great discussions followed by a related hands on activity.

The High School Youth Group continues their sale of holiday wreaths this Sunday. Yes, it seems early to be thinking about the holidays, but now is the time to order a beautiful handmade wreath for your home. The youth are raising money to fund their spring trip to Puerto Rico. Wreaths are on sale now until October 25.

CONSTRUCTION PLANS PRESENTATION AFTER SERVICE ~ 11:30 AM
Please plan to stay after the service this Sunday to hear from our architects and construction company, Goody Clancy and Turner Construction, as they share the next phase of the proposed construction work with us. Before any further work begins, we want to make sure everyone has seen the plan and knows what to expect, and has a chance to understand the tradeoffs that have needed to be made given our budget. These designs cover the chancel, the floors, and the glass walls of the sanctuary. We look forward to seeing you! Please note the session will be livestreamed, and also recorded in case you can’t make it. Questions? Contact Rev. Alan.

STOP BY THE GENDER EQUITY TABLE THIS SUNDAY
Pick up a pronoun sticker for your nametag!
Pronouns have a place in Welcoming Congregations. Like the Progress flag on our street sign and on the glass entry door, sharing our pronouns can make all the difference to a newcomer who is wondering if there will be a place for them at our table.
“When I see pronoun stickers on name tags or next to someone’s name on a ZOOM call I feel myself relaxing, taking a deeper breath. Learning someone’s pronouns lets me know that I can share more of myself instead of hiding behind a smile. I feel a bit safer.” M, they/them, 16 years old.

A VIGIL FOR PEACE:
COMING TOGETHER IN MEDITATION, PRAYER, AND REFLECTION
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 28 ~ 4:00-5:00 PM ~ IN THE SANCTUARY
| |
In the midst of chaos, we go about our daily lives. Yet within our routines and responsibilities many of us are shaken by the heart-wrenching news from the Middle East and numerous other parts of the world. We are also deeply troubled by conflict within our own country, our communities, perhaps even in our families.
Richard Wagamese writes: “There are motions of the heart that occur only in quiet rooms, in the splendour of solitude where nothing and everything exists at the same time.”
Please join us on Saturday, October 28 4-5 PM in the Sanctuary to find solace in community. It will be a time to just be, in quiet, with one another, with a very few readings and musical selections to help in our contemplation. Contact: Linda Lubin.

It can be a wonderful gesture to donate flowers for our Sunday services. A traditional hanging basket, or flowers of your own choosing that you bring to us, are both great options. Take them home with you after the service. Please reach out to Ruth Fontilla to get the process going. We look forward to celebrating with you!
| |
Please wear your nametag on Sunday mornings. If you've lost yours, let an usher know, and we'll get a new one made up for you. Or you can contact Ruth in the office.
