COMMUNITY TALKING CIRCLE SATURDAY, JUNE 4, 9:00 AM-NOON
Over the last few months we have experienced within our community a collision of opinions and conflicting perspectives. With that in mind, our Pastoral Care Associates have graciously scheduled a community-wide talking circle in our sanctuary for us all on Saturday morning, June 4. This will be a time of qualitative listening around the topic “what does our congregation do to either ‘enhance’ or ‘diminish’ the manifestation of a Blessed Community?”

CLICK HERE for complete information. Please have this on your calendars and we look forward to seeing you June 4. Questions? Contact Pastoral Care at 203.227.7205 x 19 or Rev. Jim Francek.
WE WANT YOUR IDEAS FOR NAMING OUR SPIRITUAL HOME
The Naming Committee is asking for your participation in our search for a name for our spiritual home. We need your submissions for our naming process to be inclusive and democratic! Over the next couple of months committee members will be in the foyer after Sunday service to provide information on upcoming townhalls, a July summer service, and four step voting process in the fall. We need all name submissions by September 18.

We are enjoying reading all the submissions so far! Please keep them coming. So grab a cup of coffee and start brainstorming! Thank you. Luisa Francoeur, Randy Burnham, Rob Herman, Sudha Sankar, Rob Zuckerman, Carolyn Gundell Namechange@uuwestport.org

"ON THE DIVIDE" REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS MOVIE AND DISCUSSION
TUESDAY MAY 31, 7:00-9:00 PM ON ZOOM
Please join us in watching this award-winning film about reproductive rights in Texas: On the DivideThe 90-minute film "follows the story of three Latinx people living in Texas who, despite their views, are connected by the most unexpected of places: the last reproductive health clinic on the U.S./Mexico border. As threats to the clinic and their personal safety mount, these three are forced to make decisions they never could have imagined."
We will watch the movie together and then have a short debrief discussion online: What did we learn? What is TUCW going to do now? Click here to register. Questions? Contact Beth Cliff 203.227.7205 x 16.
GUN VIOLENCE AWARENESS PROCLAMATIONS
CONTACT YOUR TOWN GOVERNMENT
CAGV
Connecticut Against Gun Violence
June 2 is Gun Violence Awareness Day and Connecticut Against Gun Violence (CAGV) is asking that we contact our Mayors or First Selectperson to issue Gun Violence Awareness Day proclamations. Stamford has already agreed to do so.

Getting your town to issue a public proclamation raises awareness of the public health crisis that gun violence is and calls attention to the magnitude of the crisis, serving as a call to action to get involved.

Please click HERE for instructions, and let us know that you're making the request so we can keep track of all the towns participating. And here for a proclamation and a request letter, all you have to do is send it to your Mayor or first Selectperson.
WEAR ORANGE AND SHOW UP: JUNE 2
NATIONAL GUN VIOLENCE AWARENESS DAY
SIDE WITH LOVE
Wear Orange June 2
National Gun Violence Awareness Day
8th annual Wear Orange event observing National Gun Violence Awareness Day takes place on the New Haven Green on Thursday, June 2 from 6:00pm to 7:30pm. We’ll focus on the public health crisis of community gun violence, and how it disproportionately victimizes Black and brown communities in Connecticut.

Wear Orange was inspired by the friends of Hadiya Pendleton, a 15-year-old Chicago student killed by gunfire just days after participating in President Obama’s 2013 inauguration. Orange was Hadiya’s favorite color, and it’s the color hunters use to protect themselves, her friends decided to honor her life by wearing orange on June 2, her birthday. This tradition has continued annually with observances across the country on her birthday and the weekend following.
