"JONAH AND THE WHALE" SUNDAY DEC 5, 10 AM
Oh Jonah
Our Children's Choir will present Jonah and the Whale (Pote and McCann) at the Sunday service on December 5. When the musical concludes, there will be a chance to ask our young cast questions, so we can bring the story into our lives and see how it relates to our time and circumstances.

Some Biblical stories are so large, so important that they have been referenced in many literary and dramatic works. It’s important for our children to know what those stories are and why they have withstood the test of time. The Jonah story is rich in meaning: some of its themes include self- worth, dignity, narcissism and the undisciplined mind, the importance of community, and responsibility.

We look forward to enjoying the children's production on the 5th!

NEW STARTING POINT - THURSDAYS DECEMBER 2,9,16,23
7-8:30 PM ON ZOOM
Starting Point compass logo
We are offering another 4-part Starting Point program on Thursday nights in December at 7-8:30 PM on ZOOM. Contact Linda Lubin to register.

The Soul Matters Starting Point program is an orientation to Unitarian Universalism for new as well as long-term members. Rev. John offers an overview of the “Three Paths of Unitarian Universalism,” summarizing our history as well as our beliefs and principles.

Starting Point also gives you an opportunity to connect with others in our congregation. We share our spiritual journeys, and, in each session, we will engage in small group discussion. By the end of the four weeks, you will have a better understanding of our faith, and will have begun to get to know one another through deep listening. At that point you will be invited to continue to meet monthly (optional), as a group, around the Soul Matters monthly themes.
NEW PODCAST DISCUSSION WITH REV. JOHN -

SEASON OF HOPE: LIGHTS IN THE DARKNESS
after Sunday Services - Nov 28, and Dec 5, 12, and 19
Join us for this thoughtful series, Season of Hope, directly after our services the next four Sundays. Meet in Rev. John's office.Tom Hearne will be our facilitator.

Chanukah, Advent/Christmas, candlelit services, the long, dark nights approaching the Winter Solstice...we each feel the crowd of memories, feelings and longings pressing upon us.

For millennia we humans have faced the darkness by gathering, creating common experience, creating rituals, telling stories that bring mind, heart, spirit and body into harmony with the natural world.  Intentional opportunities to reflect, to share, and to connect are a gift during the holiday season.

What’s your ‘holiday/solstice’ story’? How does it fit into the ancient stories of Judaism, Christianity, Pagan and other spiritual traditions? Come as you are able!

In issue #3 of Racial Justice Resources, you can:

  • join the fight for climate justice;

  • participate in a conversation about the long history of Black women combatting racism and misogyny through collective action;
  • watch an eye-opening TED Talk about the biases and behaviors that set people from underrepresented groups up for failure -- and what can be done to make the path to success in leadership better for everyone.
