SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 19 11:30 AM, Live and virtual

We are pleased to have CEO and author Diane Hessan join us to discuss her new book, Our Common Ground. Based on 4 years of weekly interviews with Trump and non-Trump supporters, Ms. Hessan will share her findings and implications for all of us Americans going forward. As Amazon shares in its review: "After more than a million individual communications, two things became clear: We have more common ground than we realize. And we are, sadly, failing at understanding each other."

We are delighted to hear from one of our newest members who has gotten deeply involved in our community, already! Let's welcome Kim Fuchs!

"Joining TUCW has been a little bit like finding my way back home.

I joined a UU community in northern NJ in the mid- 1980s, seeking a place that would provide a spiritual foundation for my young children as they started their journeys in the world.

What I found back then, and still find now, as I look for a firm foundation under my own feet, are values that resonate with me. And I have been so touched by the people here at TUCW who have opened doors to me, and who have reached out to this “newbie” with open arms and open hearts. (and it’s kind of an amazing testament to TUCW’s use of technology… this sense of connection and belonging started entirely through ZOOM!)...Click HERE to read more.
Rev. John continues the next Soul Matters Starting Point program on Thursday evenings in September: September 16, 23, 30, 7:00-8:30 PM. A rich and engaging program, each week will focus on different aspects of Unitarian Universalism, the history of our faith, and of our congregation. We will be sharing our spiritual journeys and getting to know one another. At the end of the program, the group will be invited to continue to meet monthly for at least a year as a Soul Matters Sharing Circle. Contact Linda Lubin, Soul Matters Program Coordinator, for more information or to sign up.
“I have been in a Soul Matters Sharing Circle for about six months, but already it feels as though I have known the members of my group for years. The act of talking about oneself and one's thoughts while a group of others listens attentively is a warm and comforting feeling. But even more important and valuable to me has been the act of truly listening - carefully, with intention and thoughtfulness. As we "hold up and hold out" - giving others the gift of our gratitude for what they said - we grow closer. And we learn to do this kind of careful listening in other settings as well. The growth I feel as a result has been powerful and important to me.” Elena Rockman-Blake

There is something special about sitting down at a meal with friends, or with folks we haven't yet met who will become friends in the future.

The Membership Team is looking for hosts to share meals with our congregants - newcomers, old-timers, and everyone in between. For a while it might need to be outside barbecues or picnics, for COVID safety reasons - and then maybe later we can move inside. We'll be flexible.

Eileen Belmont has graciously agreed to organize these dinners for us. If you'd like to host something - right now, or post-COVID - please reach out to her HERE and let her know! And if you'd like to help her with organizing, let her know that, too!
