In our continuing quest to dismantle racism, one of the key learnings is the difference between our best intentions and harmful impacts. In this service, Rev. John shares his own journey and invites us to deepen our work together.

Sacred Text
This Sunday our first of the Sacred Text Discussions will be 9-9:45 with Rev. John. He has selected as his text a reading from the Hebrew Scripture, Genesis chapters 1 and part of 2. ZOOM link HERE. MLK JR. CELEBRATION AT 2:30 PM, ONLINE ONLY
The 16th annual MLK program featuring renowned author Heather McGhee will take place at the Westport Library. Her book, The Sum of Us: What Racism Costs Everyone and How We Can Prosper Together, spent 10 weeks on The New York Times bestseller list and was longlisted for the National Book Award. Her 2020 TED talk, "Racism Has a Cost for Everyone", reached 1million views in just two months online.

The program will also include elements by two local youth organizations; a recital by the Bridgeport Boys Choir and a dance performed by the Regional Center for the Arts. The2023 MLK celebration will be held at the Westport Country Playhouse.

RESIDENTIAL SEGREGATION:
CAUSES, CONSEQUENCES & COMMUNITY ACTION
Please join us immediately after service for a closer look at residential segregation in Connecticut. Guest speaker Peter Harrison, Senior Policy Fellow at Desegregate Connecticut, will guide us through the causes and consequences of segregation and share ways that his organization and others are working to build inclusive communities. 

Rev Morehouse will moderate the program, which will also include works by Seattle-based artist Warren Pope, performances by members of the TUCW choir and a Q&A session. Stay on the worship ZOOM at 11, and join us as we consider the challenges we face and our roles in creating our Beloved Community.
