A WELCOME GIFT: THE SCOULLER/NELSON FUND
FOR FAMILY FAITH FORMATION
It is with deep gratitude that this past Tuesday night the Board approved the establishment of The Scouller/Nelson Fund for Family Faith Formation. This is made possible by a significant gift from Beth Cliff and her family in memory of her parents, Mary Scouller (pronounced 'Schooler') Nelson and Gordon Lyle Nelson, who were, as the Resolution states, “committed to their faith, to religious education for children, and to living and creating a world that reflects Unitarian Universalist values as expressed in our Principles.” Thank you, Beth, Gordon, Lori and Ellie!

The Fund will be invested and managed by the Endowment Committee. A portion of the income each year will be used for the enhancement and growth of our Family Faith Formation ministry for children and their families. Much like the Bernhard Music Fund, the Scouller/Nelson Fund will help secure long-term resources for educating our children and youth.
Included in the family's gift is also a generous cash donation for the operating budget, earmarked for Family Faith Formation. This is to kick-start and support vigorous outreach and other activities for families and their children, even while it takes some time for the Scouller/Nelson Fund income to grow. This direct support comes at a most opportune time as we expand our ministry to reach out to young families in the post-pandemic world. Rev. John will be deciding how these new funds will be spent and we look forward to hearing his plans soon.

“The Will to Go On” – Annual Spring Concert 10:00 AM
Rev. Ed Thompson and singers
This week our Sunday Service will be dedicated to our annual Spring Service/Concert entitled “The Will to Go On.” We will hear six soloists, the Children's Choir, the Septet, and the Once and Again Singers, all of whom will offer musical selections to bolster our spirits. The music will be of Stephen Sondheim, Andy Gundell, Len Handler, Fred Hellerman, Stephen Schwartz, Joyce Poley, Edward Thompson, Ralph Vaughan Williams, and Gerald Finzi, and include as well some traditional spirituals.
As the title suggests, we celebrate endurance, that capacity to move through our experiences and not to avoid them. We celebrate our will, power and desire to go on with life. It is not a mistake that this concert takes place on the vernal equinox, the official beginning of spring. One can feel the stirring of new life on planet earth. We hope to share that feeling of new and enduring life with you. Please join us.
