WORSHIP SERVICE: 10:00 AM - In Person and Virtual
“IMPOSSIBLE BEAUTY” – REV. DR. JOHN MOREHOUSE
+ FLOWER COMMUNION
|
|
This Mother’s Day, Rev. John preaches on Mary Magdalene, the often-maligned companion of Jesus, who was considered by some to be the mother of the “Jesus Movement.” John will explore how beauty has been distorted to make many women feel inadequate. Beauty is primarily an inner state of worth which can birth a more beautiful world.
Click HERE for the Order of Service.
Our service will be in person and virtual; attendance guidelines are HERE. NOTE: COVID numbers are rising. Please consider wearing a mask, and use care when making this decision as this variant is highly contagious.
Broadcast of the service is available at uuwestport.org/livestream. For those of you online who would like to light a candle during the service, please email David Vita ( david@uuwestport.org) on Sunday, before the covenant has been shared. At the appropriate time we will light a candle with your words.
Offering can be made on VENMO ("The Unitarian Church in Westport"), on vop.tucw.org, or feel free to mail in cash or check.

Searching for the Self Sundays, May 8, 15, 22, 11:15 in TUCW Library. Facilitated by Dayle Brownstein.
“Just be yourself.” We’ve all heard these words of wisdom countless times. But did you ever catch yourself asking “well, what exactly is “myself?”
Is the self the totality of our personality traits, our memories, our hopes and longings? Does our self exist only in relation to other selves? Are we only what we do, believe, and value? Is there some undefined essence that is the core of the self?
We will explore these ideas through questions, reflection, ideas from philosophers, and others great thinkers. And, of course, we’ll share and reflect on each other's thoughts, imaginings, and experiences. Contact: Linda Lubin

PLEASE WEAR YOUR NAMETAGS!
|
|
Especially since we've been months apart with COVID these past few years (!), we need to remind ourselves who we are! And it's helpful for our newcomers to put names and faces together. Thanks to our Membership Committee, all tags have been organized and sorted, and are on display on the wooden table to the right as you enter the sanctuary. Ask an usher if you need help, and sign up on the clipboard if you need a new one made for you.
