The Last Ipswich Downtown Tuesdays is Tonight featuring The Far Out

Russell Orchards' Heirloom Tomatoes Win First Prize in 39th Annual Massachusetts Tomato Contest


(From Ipswich Local News) Held at the Boston Public Market on Tuesday, competition judges included food critics, chefs, and produce experts.They deemed the Ipswich farm’s heirloom tomatoes to be the best in the state. The winning variety of fruit, which is usually considered a vegetable, was a speckled Roman grown by Russell Orchards farmer Devan Ferreira.

Backyard Growcery Hits a Growth Spurt


(From Gloucester Daily Times) A steady stream of people in search of fresh produce, food, fish and fun arrived at Burnham’s Field on a sunny afternoon to take in the nonprofit Backyard Growers’ new Backyard Growcery farmers market that marked Week 10 on Wednesday. The farmers market, which runs through Oct. 16, is in its first season. The City of Gloucester has made a commitment to use statewide opioid settlement funds to expand, supplement and strengthen resources available to community members. The purpose of this survey is to seek your opinion on how best to spend these dollars to mitigate the impact of the opioid epidemic in the City of Gloucester.
