39th Annual Essex ClamFest and Arts & Crafts Festival

Saturday, October 26 | 11 AM - 4 PM | Shepard Memorial Park

(Rain Location: Essex Elementary School)


Join us for the 39th Annual Essex ClamFest and Arts & Crafts Festival, from 11 am to 4 pm in Shepard Memorial Park in Essex. Come taste Cape Ann’s finest chowders from Noon to 1 pm and vote for your favorite! (Tasting only while supplies last!) Although the highlight of the day is the Chowder Tasting Competition, there is also a great variety of activities, including arts and crafts vendors, live entertainment and plenty of food vendors on-site! $25K Game Tickets Available for Purchase


The $25K Game tickets are in the house and ready for sale! There are 12 chances to win with a total of $25,000 being given away. Cost is $100 per ticket, with a limit of 500 tickets being sold. 


The event will feature a Costume Contest again this year and will be live-streamed by Streamography for those unable to attend.

New CPR/AED, First Aid, and Child and Babysitting Safety classes


To support our mission for healthy living and social responsibility, the Ipswich Family YMCA has added NEW CPR/AED, First Aid, and Child and Babysitting Safety classes which are open to the community.


Our CPR classes cover caring for people of all ages (infant through adult) and teach people how to call for help in an emergency, perform chest compressions, perform rescue breathing, use an AED, and provide choking care. Perfect for individuals and those needing a CPR certification as a job requirement. We also offer Basic Life Support classes for Lifeguards, healthcare workers, and other professional rescuers. Cape Ann Museum moving operations CAM Green during renovations downtown


(From Gloucester Daily Times) As Cape Ann Museum prepares to close its doors at the downtown campus for a major overhaul, plans are set for more than a year of free exhibits and programs at CAM Green. The first exhibit at the CAM Green, off Washington Street near Grant Circle, will begin next Friday and is show dedicated to renowned progressive artist Umberto Romano (1905-1982), who opened the Romano School of Art in East Gloucester in 1938. Applications now open for heating aid


The Massachusetts Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), formerly known as LIHEAP, is here to help eligible renters and homeowners pay a portion of their winter heating bills. Funded by the Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities and provided through local agencies, HEAP supports households across Massachusetts, regardless of the type of heating source or whether heating costs are included in rent. Essex seeks input for proposed residential zoning districts


(From Gloucester Daily Times) The Planning Board is reaching out to fellow residents to gather input about its ongoing effort to offer residential zoning proposals. The Planning Board is working to develop types and locations of residential districts, with the proposed zoning considered at Special Town Meeting on Nov. 18.


Two types of residential districts are proposed – “village residential,” close to the downtown area, and “rural residential districts,” located in the outlying areas of Essex, Planning Board Chairperson Lisa O’Donnell said. Selectman Alva Ingaharro said the town’s residents will ultimately decide what’s best for them. Read Full Article

Facts About Manchester's Proposed MBTA Zoning


(From The Cricket) Residents will decide to approve or reject a new zoning bylaw that establishes proposed overlay districts in four areas of town at the November 18 Special Town Meeting. The proposed districts have been developed by the MBTA Task Force and the Planning Board in response to a new state law that adds a new Section 3A to the state’s Zoning laws contained in Chapter 40A.
