Volunteers Needed to Help Deliver American Legion Holiday Ham Dinners


The Capt. Lester S. Wass American Legion Post 3, Gloucester, will again be proudly delivering free Holiday Ham Dinners in 2023 to the elderly, shut-ins, veterans, and needy in the Cape Ann area on Monday, December 25, 2023, between 11 AM and 1 PM. These FREE meals will be serving the communities of Gloucester, Rockport, Manchester, Essex, Hamilton, Wenham and Ipswich. Their goal is to serve and deliver as many holiday meals as they can to fellow veterans, their families, senior citizens and other "special citizens".

TownGreen Offers Youth Climate Leadership Program for Cape Ann High School Students - Starts January 2024


TownGreen is partnering with The Climate Initiative, a global youth climate education program, to provide Cape Ann high school students with an empowering youth climate leadership program. The four-part virtual workshop teaches youth the basics of climate action, how to effectively communicate, what to consider when building teams, and how to create and manage projects and teams. After completing the four-part online workshop, participants are ready to carry out environmental action projects within their schools or communities by identifying an issue, creating a team, and executing a team-led solution.

Volunteers of All Ages Needed to Participate in Live Nativity Pageant on December 16


The organizers of the 78th Annual Rockport Christmas Pageant are looking for volunteers to participate in this year’s cast. The roles that organizers are looking to fill include Shepherds, Ladies of Bethlehem, Children of Bethlehem, and more. All interested in participating and supporting the Pageant in any way are encouraged to email Stapleton Kearns at RockportChristmasPageant@gmail.com by Wednesday, 12/13/23. 


This year’s procession will be stepping off on Saturday, December 16th at 5 PM. Cast will need to gather at the Rockport Art Association for costuming by 3 PM. 

The Cape Ann Transportation Authority again is offering free rides this holiday season.


(From Gloucester Daily Times) Now through New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31, CATA’s bus and paratransit services — excluding On-Demand — will be free to all thanks to a grant included in the state budget and awarded by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation to the state’s 14 regional transit authorities. The 14 agencies worked together to submit a joint application and implementation plan. This is the second year this grant was awarded. Read More
