2023 Winter & Spring Registration Now Open: The NightHawks Adult Education Program at Essex Tech is offering free industry training programs in Auto Collision Repair, Construction, Culinary Arts, Electro-Mechanical Assembly, HVAC, and Welding. These courses include professional skills development and job placement assistance. If you are looking to start a new career then this could be the right path for you. The Career Technical Institute (CTI) initiative is funded through the Baker-Polito administration in collaboration with the MassHire North Shore Career Center. Department of Industrial Accidents (DIA) awards up to $25,000 to various organizations to fund workplace safety training. Eligible employers within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts covered by the Massachusetts Workers’ Compensation Law (MGL CH. 152) may qualify for funding.

The Workforce Training Fund Express Program is designed to help businesses respond quickly to change and keep employees engaged. With bite-size grants for just-in-time training and no waiting periods between grants, Express is our fastest path to funding, enhanced with an even more flexible directory of training options and 6 quick steps to success:

Land trust conveys open space properties to Greenbelt


Several properties in Wenham, Hamilton and Ipswich — and their corresponding conservation restrictions — have been transferred from the former Hamilton Wenham Open Land Trust to the Essex County Greenbelt Association. The properties include Baker’s Pasture, next to Kamon Farm in Ipswich; Nickerson Knoll in Wenham, with trails and direct frontage on Wenham Lake; Dodge Farm, a 2.5-acre parcel connecting Main Street to Pingree Park with stone dust paths and a 50-plot community garden; Riverview and Marshview, parcels in Hamilton and Ipswich along the Miles River — Riverview connects trails between Gardner Street and New England Biolabs while Marshview is adjacent to the Rice Reservation; Pondview, a small neighborhood greenspace on Boardman Lane in Hamilton; and Michaela’s Woods and Taft Woods in Hamilton off Essex Street.

Lottery Applications Now Available for Harborlight Homes at 5 Granite Street Crossing, Rockport


The Granite Street Crossing property will be an intergenerational property of 23 units total - with 17 senior studios and 6 family townhomes, all deeply affordable. A housing lottery for the property will take place on April 3, with the application deadline of March 1, 2023. The property is slated for a late summer 2023 move-in. Please share these details with those who are in need of affordable housing.

The Cape Ann Kids Holiday Fund supports children in our community by providing gift cards for families who are struggling financially. The cards allow families to purchase holiday gifts, either locally or online, that might not be available through traditional toy drives.
