Manchester-by-the-Sea's Cardboard Boat Regatta

(From Manchester Cricket) It seemed everyone poured out to the town boat launch behind Town Hall Sunday for the 13th annual Manchester by the Sea Cardboard Boat Regatta and its promise of an afternoon of raucous, rollicking fun with costumes, light-hearted grudge matches, and the emergence of real legacies in the annals of cardboard-and-duct-tape-boat racing.

Congratulations to the winner, Akshay Patel in his “Bull Ship” and to second place finisher Bernie Romanowski (former Chamber COO) in "Granny Panty" who lost out to Patel by just seconds for the second year running. Read More

Essex Tech opens door to nursing for students at local high schools

(From Gloucester Daily Times) The After Dark Partnership is a two-year program offers students enrolled at partnering high schools, including Gloucester High School, an accelerated, half-day course in certain Essex Tech vocational or technical programs without transferring schools. It’s a way to collaborate with local high schools and increase equitable access to Essex Tech’s programs, since there are always more applicants than seats available, said Maryanne Gearin, the school’s career technical education partnership liaison. Essex Tech offers the After Dark program in automotive technology, automotive collision repair and refinishing, construction craft labor in conjunction with Local 22 Laborers’ Union, and sustainable horticulture, in addition to health assisting.
