The Successful Return of the Annual Essex ClamFest


The 38th Annual Essex ClamFest is in the books! Congratulations to Woodman's of Essex for grabbing the #1 Judges' award with Ripple on the Water taking the second place award.


However, Ripple on the Water received the coveted top spot in the People's Choice voting, followed closely by The Farm Bar & Grille.


It was a gorgeous day at Shepard Memorial Park and attendees enjoyed shopping, food, music and Great Marsh brews throughout the afternoon. Thank you to all who attended to support the local restaurants and artisans in this great annual tradition.

Volunteers Sought to Deliver Thanksgiving Meals 


The Capt. Lester S. Wass American Legion Post 3 is proud to announce that it will again be sponsoring the 2022 Thanksgiving Holiday Turkey Dinner on Thursday, November 24, 2022 to the elderly, shut-in, veterans, and the needy. They served and delivered more than 650 holiday meals last Thanksgiving and with the rising inflation and soaring food prices we anticipate the need for this holiday meal to be even greater. They will be serving to the communities of Gloucester, Rockport, Manchester, Essex, Ipswich, Hamilton and Wenham.

Wanderlust Ball Raises $1.9 million for YMCA of the North Shore


After a 3-year hiatus, the annual fundraising gala, the Wanderlust Ball,  was held on October 1 at the Glen T. MacLeod Cape Ann YMCA. Proceeds from the gala will help launch and support a new mental wellness initiative called the ONEDoor, a Path to Mental Wellness.

Donor to match $100,000 for library capital campaign if locals chip in


(From Gloucester Daily Time) An anonymous donor has gifted $100,000 to Sawyer Free 2025 — and will give another $100,000 if locals match the donation by Dec. 31. While the library has already secured $15 million in grants and donations, it still needs to raise another $13 million to cover the project’s costs, according to a statement from the Sawyer Free Library Foundation.


The latest $100,000 donation came from a private, out-of-town family foundation. The donor first heard about the project through a sponsorship spot by the library foundation on WBUR, said Chad Konecky, a spokesperson for the library foundation.

Created by members of the Gloucester Writers Center, these written works provide local perspectives on Gloucester's many autumnal attractions. Grants Available from Massachusetts Cultural Council


Mass Cultural Council’s Cultural Sector Recovery Grants for Individuals offers unrestricted grants to creatives and gig workers to support recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and set a path for growth. Application deadline is November 1, 2022. Learn more during a live information session on October 6, or view a virtual info session to learn more.


Every Local Cultural Council (LCC) sets its own local priorities and criteria for its LCC Program grants. Learn about each greater Cape Ann LCC by selecting from the following list::

Department of Industrial Accidents (DIA) awards up to $25,000 to various organizations to fund workplace safety training. Eligible employers within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts covered by the Massachusetts Workers’ Compensation Law (MGL CH. 152) may qualify for funding.
