National Non-Profit Day

National Non-Profit Day will be observed on Wednesday, August 17. National Nonprofit Day is intended to draw attention to the nonprofit organizations that are doing good work in the community.

This holiday was first created by Sherita J. Herring in 2017 to bring attention to all of the organizations putting in good work as a nonprofit. Why did she choose August 17th to celebrate this holiday? She chose this holiday because that’s when the Tariff Act of 1894 was signed into law. Although this act is widely known for imposing the first federal income taxes on corporations, it also established the tax-exemption for nonprofit organizations.

Learn 9 Ways Businesses can Honor National Non-Profit Day

Did you know that the Chamber has a committee called Cape Ann Development Warriors, a group of fundraising professionals from nonprofits on Cape Ann and beyond? Love Greater Cape Ann 35th Annual Fundraising Auction

Add Your Company to the List of Sponsors

Each year, the Greater Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce hosts a fundraising auction to provide for the fundamental tenet of our mission - the prosperity of Essex, Gloucester, Ipswich, Manchester-by-the-Sea and Rockport. This year's auction is scheduled for September 29 at Cruiseport Gloucester, and we would love to add your name to our sponsor list.

As the most historic and still largest Auction in the region, this fundraiser will reach and engage a wide array of businesses and households. As such it provides a unique opportunity for your organization to have fantastic exposure with community leaders, public officials, local businesses, area residents, and visitors who travel to Cape Ann.

When you choose to sponsor, you are actively helping the Greater Cape Ann communities by defraying the costs associated with delivering this stellar auction event, so that proceeds can go towards grant programs, scholarships, and business promotion.

Fishbox Derby

Hay Bale Advertising Opportunity

On Sunday, September 18th, dozens of kids between the ages of 8 and 14 will race cars they built with their families in the Fish Box Derby, a Gloucester tradition that traces its roots to the 1950s. This event was established by a non-profit organization, Fish Box Derby, Inc., whose purpose is to provide the local youth with the opportunity to build and strengthen family relations. This annual event, run by the Gloucester AMVETS and American Legion since 2018, would not be possible without our volunteers and the generous support from our local community businesses.

The Hay Bale Advertising opportunity offers the promotion of your business on hay bales that line the racecourse. If you are interested in helping the youth of the community, please download and fill out the form.
