Businesswomen's Committee Extends Scholarship Deadline

The Businesswomen’s Committee has extended the Carolyn M. O’Connor Scholarship application deadline to March 31. One scholarship of $1,500 will be awarded in early May to a woman who is returning to the workforce or is considering a career change, in an effort to better their life situation

Collaborative Public Art Projects to Reinvigorate Gloucester in 2021 Thanks to Funding from Essex County Community Foundation

The Gloucester community will come to life through new public art projects that seek to promote hope, connection, and diversity.
Projects include Agri-Culture, led by Gloucester-based food access and urban agriculture nonprofit Backyard Growers.

Earlier this year, The Gloucester House opened its doors as a temporary location for the Grace Center which provides daytime shelter, meals and other support to residents in need. Lauree Eckler from Gloucester Bio visited The Gloucester House to deliver 50 bottles of complimentary hand sanitizer to those in need.

The City of Gloucester's Youth Development team is hoping to collect data on our community's knowledge of Narcan. Results of the survey will help develop a project centered around the stigma of carrying Narcan to help prevent overdoses in our community.

President Announces Steps to Promote Equitable Access to SBA Relief Programs

On Monday President Biden announced changes to SBA's coronavirus relief programs to ensure equity and help sole proprietors, effective Wednesday, February 24. The new formula used to calculate eligibility will allow sole proprietors and independent contractors to apply for a PPP loan even if they did not make a profit. SBA will also establish a 14-day, exclusive PPP loan application period for businesses and nonprofits with fewer than 20 employees. Take the Mass Cultural Council Economic
Impact Survey

As the one-year anniversary of the pandemic nears Mass Cultural Council has launched a fifth COVID impact survey for cultural organizations. The data MCC collects will be shared broadly throughout Massachusetts and directly inform their continued advocacy efforts for public investment to fund cultural sector recovery needs. The MCC urges all Massachusetts cultural organizations to respond to this survey by March 1, 2021.
