FDA Approves First COVID-19 Vaccine

Late on Friday, December 10 the FDC gave its official emergency use authorization for Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine, and vaccine shipments began over the weekend. Massachusetts is receiving 59,475 first doses of the Pfizer vaccine this week and a total of 300,000 first doses of Pfizer and Moderna vaccines by the end of December. (The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines both require two doses administered three to four weeks apart.)
State Launches Vaccine Distribution Program 

With Monday’s delivery of initial shipments of the Pfizer vaccine Massachusetts is launching the state’s vaccine distribution and immunization program this week. Read the Baker-Polito administration’s full vaccine distribution plan and timeline here.
FDA Advisory Committee to Meet Thursday on Moderna’s COVID-19 Vaccine 

The FDA’s Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee (VRBPAC) will meet again on December 17, this time to discuss the request for emergency use authorization (EUA) of a COVID-19 vaccine from Massachusetts-based Moderna.
