Cape Ann Regional Grant Offers Free Business Workshops
July 27 & August 4 | 8 - 9:30 AM

The Cape Ann Regional Grant Program presents the first in a series of free workshops tailored to meet the needs of Cape Ann’s small businesses. All Cape Ann business owners and their staff are invited to attend Shaping Your Post-Pandemic Business Strategy on Tuesday, July 27 and Agile Small Business Operations on Wednesday, August 4. Both workshops run from 8am-9:30am and will be offered in-person at the Cape Ann Chamber’s conference room, or via zoom. In-person attendance is on a first come, first serve basis. Funding Approved for Granite Street Crossing Affordable Housing Project in Rockport

When completed, Granite Street Crossing will offer 23 total new units, with 17 units restricted for seniors. All 23 units will be affordable to seniors or families earning less than 60% of AMI, with eight units further restricted for seniors or families earning less than 30% of AMI, and, in some cases, transitioning from homelessness.
This was announced on Thursday, July 15 by the Baker-Polito Administration as part of a larger announcement that 28 affordable housing projects have been awarded to 21 communities.
1623 Studios' COVID Success Story

Cape Ann Artisans Announce
Summer Mini-Tour

A select group of Cape Ann Artisans will participate in a special summer Mini-Tour and open their studios to the public for one day, Saturday, August 14. The tour is self-guided, free and open to the public, and includes nine unique locations around Gloucester and Rockport.

City of Gloucester Open Space and Recreation Plan Update

The City of Gloucester is updating its Open Space and Recreation Plan (OSRP) and is seeking your input in the Parks and Open Space Community Survey! Your survey answers will help the City identify opportunities for significant, long-term preservation and improvements that provide the greatest benefit to people who live, work and play in Gloucester.
Taste Gloucester Foodie Tour

Book a Tuesday tour with Cape Ann Foodie Tours! Guests will make their way on foot through downtown Gloucester, sampling food from family-owned establishments. Along the way, your dynamic tour guide will provide the backdrop to this 400-year-old city with great stories and interesting facts about the oldest working seaport in America. Rocky Neck Cultural District and Harbortown Cultural District are co-hosting Gloucester's Culture Splash featuring art exhibitions, live musical performances, store extended hours, cultural events and more! CATA will be providing free trolley rides allowing folks to hop off and hop on throughout the route at specific locations. Harbor Tours is providing a water shuttle from one cultural district to the other.

Olde Ipswich Days has returned this year to mark its 50th year celebrating the arts and crafts after last year's cancellation due to the pandemic. Olde Ipswich Days is a local artisan craft fair with handmade items that will feature over 50 artisans from up and down the coast of Cape Ann and the North Shore area. The fair will take place at the South Village Green near the Whipple House

Rockport Art Association to Mark 100th Anniversary

Rockport Art Association & Museum, Located at 12 Main Street in Rockport, will be honoring the 100th anniversary of its founding with a public observance on Saturday, July 24 on their front lawn. This special event will include the depositing of a time capsule, live music by The Jazz Imposters, and the release of Legacy & Future: The Story of RAA&M, their just-published 100th anniversary book. Copies of Legacy & Future will be available for sale, music will fill the air, and merriment will abound! All are invited to come on down and sign a scroll that will be placed inside the time capsule, as well as jot down any well-wishes for those who will be opening the capsule a century from now. The scroll will be available for signing starting at 1PM, and the event itself begins at 2PM.  
Family Field Day and WAGRS Fundraiser

Join Grand Banks for a family field day this Saturday. There will be games, food, live music, woodworking craft for kids, bouncy house, face painting, and more. T-shirts and raffle tickets will be available for sale to raise money for the Jimmy Fund in their efforts to continue research on Wilm's Tumors. Wilm's tumors only affect children and are a characteristic of WAGRS syndrome.

The Rockport Farmers Market will take place Saturdays until October 16. The market provides fresh surprises with its roster of vendors offering small-batch, locally-produced food at each week’s outdoor market, taking place in the heart of downtown Rockport. Produce and locally-grown and farm-made products can be purchased on-site. Phone Banking Event

Seaside Sustainability will be hosting a phone banking event to call for action on Bill H.2348c and Bill S.1576, which have been sitting in the Massachusetts House and Senate since March. These bills aim to ban the manufacture and sale of food packaging and firefighter personal protective equipment that contain PFAS chemicals.
