Age Boldly: an opportunity to be informed about aging clients

"My dad's been in his house for 40 years, but I think he may need to move to an assisted living facility. Where do we start?"

Sound familiar? If you work with clients who are transitioning into or may be considering supportive living---or helping a family member to transition---this is useful information for you. Every day 10,000 people in the United States turn 65. This aging population has significant implications for everyone.

Age Boldly is a review of services and resources for aging adults presented by Saint Paul's Lyngblomsten Care Center, a nonprofit that has been providing healthcare, housing and services for older adults since 1906.

Age Boldly is next Wednesday, March 6 from 10am to 12pm at SPAAR's Maplewood location. Register today. The event is brought to you by SPAAR's Community Engagement Committee.
Toastmasters provides an hour of professionalism and fun!
"I expected to gain some confidence in my public speaking ability, but I didn't expect it to be fun," said a Toastmasters participant at a recent meeting held at SPAAR.

Toastmasters is a great way to improve your speaking skills, gain leadership experience and learn how to efficiently run a meeting from start to finish. Worried about speaking in front of a group? To date, all participants have survived and thrived!

Meetings take place the first and third Tuesdays of each month from 1-2pm at SPAAR's 325 Roselawn Avenue East location. Interested to learn more or join? If so, contact Jennifer at jkovacich@spaar.com. The next meeting takes place on Tuesday, March 5, 2019.

Learn how you can support those serving in the military
The Blue Star Mothers Collection Drive is a SPAAR tradition orchestrated by the Community Engagement Committee. SPAAR members collect small items (snacks, magazines, toiletries, playing cards, colored pencils, sketch pads, etc.) for "We Care" packages sent to troops serving in active duty. The nonprofit, Blue Star Mothers, assembles the items in "We Care" packages and ships them. SPAAR's Community Engagement Committee has partnered with Blue Star Mothers for five years.

Consider a decorated box to be placed in your office waiting area, meeting room or staff lounge. This is a great way to show office visitors your team is involved in the community and remembering those serving in the military. SPAAR will be collecting items for "We Care" baskets now through March 29, 2019. Learn more here.
Mark your calendar to attend Cheers for Charity on April 16
Who can invest in a PAC?

Did you know a Political Action Committee (PAC) is a popular term for a political committee organized by like-minded people for the purpose of raising and spending money to elect and defeat candidates

PAC money must come from voluntary contributions from members. PACs may receive contributions from any one individual. In short, PACs merely represent a legal way for individuals to unite and ensure their voices are heard at all levels of government.

In the real estate industry, the REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC) raises money to support candidates from the national, state and local levels who support REALTOR® Party issues. By doing this, RPAC ensures that programs important to REALTORS® continue to operate.

RPAC is the largest nonpartisan political action committee in the state. Your support makes a difference! Learn more here or support RPAC today!
