Toastmasters provides an hour of professionalism and fun!
"I expected to gain some confidence in my public speaking ability, but I didn't expect it to be fun," said a Toastmasters participant at a recent meeting held at SPAAR.

Toastmasters is a great way to improve your speaking skills, gain leadership experience and learn how to efficiently run a meeting from start to finish. Worried about speaking in front of a group? To date, all participants have survived and thrived!

Meetings take place the first and third Tuesdays of each month from 1-2pm at SPAAR's 325 Roselawn Avenue East location. Interested to learn more or join? If so, contact Jennifer at jkovacich@spaar.com. The next meeting takes place on Tuesday, March 19, 2019.

Islamic financing: what you should know
Many prospective homebuyers seek non-interest bearing transactions, in compliance with cultural, religious or personal beliefs and traditions. How can you assist clients seeking these resources? How do non-interest bearing mortgages impact transactions?

Taught by Shoeb Sharieff of ijara Community Development Corporation on March 28 from 1-3:30pm at SPAAR. Click on the image above for more information. Cost: $10.
Three weeks remaining! Support those serving in the military.
The Blue Star Mothers Collection Drive is a SPAAR tradition orchestrated by the Community Engagement Committee. SPAAR members collect small items (snacks, magazines, toiletries, playing cards, colored pencils, sketch pads, etc.) for "We Care" packages sent to troops serving in active duty. The nonprofit, Blue Star Mothers, assembles the items in "We Care" packages and ships them. SPAAR's Community Engagement Committee has partnered with Blue Star Mothers for five years.

Consider a decorated box to be placed in your office waiting area, meeting room or staff lounge. This is a great way to show office visitors your team is involved in the community and remembering those serving in the military. SPAAR will be collecting items for "We Care" baskets now through March 29, 2019. Learn more here.

Volunteer at a community event!

Each year, SPAAR's Diversity Committee participates in community events to promote homeownership. State agency Minnesota Housing participates in many events all over the Twin Cities and across the state. These events provide opportunities for real estate professionals to answer general questions about homeownership, the property market, down payment assistance or the process of buying a home.

Volunteers are needed! Consider volunteering to help staff a community event and answer questions. You do not have to be a committee member to volunteer. This is a great opportunity for all REALTORS®, including those who are new in real estate.

Upcoming events to consider:
NAREB/AREAA Housing Fair         Saturday, April 13
These opportunities are made possible through SPAAR's partnership with Minnesota Housing:

IGH Hi-Design Expo                         Saturday, April 13

Cinco de Mayo                                  Saturday, May 4

Volunteers staff these events to represent SPAAR and answer general questions about homeownership. While these events are not occasions to market yourself or your brokerage, they are a great way to greet the public and polish your presentation skills. Shifts and times vary. Free admission and parking reimbursement is provided. Contact Joe McKinley at SPAAR for details at jmckinley@spaar.com or (651) 772-6344.
Who can invest in a PAC?

Did you know a Political Action Committee (PAC) is a popular term for a political committee organized by like-minded people for the purpose of raising and spending money to elect and defeat candidates. PAC money must come from voluntary contributions from members.

In the real estate industry, the REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC) raises money to support candidates from the national, state and local levels who support REALTOR® Party issues. By doing this, RPAC ensures that programs important to REALTORS® continue to operate.

RPAC is the largest nonpartisan political action committee in the state. Your support makes a difference! Learn more here or support RPAC today!
Mark your calendar to golf on September 11
The golf tournament sign up is coming soon! Interested in being an event sponsor or volunteer? Contact Kristin Parker at kparker@spaar.com or (763) 489-3303.
