Vote Now! Fair Housing Poster Contest

Voting is now open for SPAAR's Fair Housing Poster Contest. The contest, open to all students in grades K-5, is intended to create awareness of the importance of providing equal housing opportunities for everyone, and to teach students about problems related to housing discrimination. This year's poster theme was "Won't You Be My Neighbor?"

Posters will be on display at SPAAR through the end of the month. Stop in and vote for your favorite! Students (and their classes) of posters recieving the most votes will win prizes. You can also vote online by viewing the poster albums on Facebook, and "liking" your favorite entry. There are two divisions: Grades K-2 and Grades 3-5. Vote for your favorite in each!

Is Unconscious Bias Impacting Your Business?

SPAAR is holding a session on Unconscious Bias, that will focus on bias related to race, but is intended to be a starting point for consideration of unconscious biases related to age, education, economic status, etc. In this interactive and high energy session participants will be asked to think how our communications and treatment of others are based on stereotypes or misconceptions. Includes takeaways and suggestions for further study. This class is sponsored by SPAAR’s Diversity Committee, and is part of SPAAR’s recognition of Fair Housing Month.
