Take part in a meal-packing kick off this Thursday

Meals from the Heart kicks off its Side-by-Side event on August 2

SPAAR members are invited to participate in the kick-off event for the Side-by-Side meal-packing put on by Stillwater-based Meals from the Heart and area congregations.

The kick off will take place on Thursday, Aug. 2, from 10am-12pm at SPAAR. This 2-hour timeslot will allow members to partake in meal-packing.

Contact Joe McKinley at jmckinley@spaar.com if you're interested in taking part.

More information will follow soon about a larger Side-by-Side meal-packing opportunity taking place in September.
Help SPAAR pack the bus
SPAAR members are collecting backpacks and school supplies for area kids. You can help SPAAR reach its goal of 75 fully-stocked backpacks to send students back to school ready and confident for the new year!

Here's how you can help:
  • Drop off donations at SPAAR's offices in St. Paul or Coon Rapids.
  • Display a poster in your office and help to promote PACK THE BUS! at your office sales meetings with an onsite collection spot.
  • School supply sales are taking place in many stores, including grocery, hardware and dollar stores, too.
  • Consider making a cash donation to purchase school supplies in bulk. Contact Joe McKinley for details.
Get all of the details here!

The collection drive is coordinated by SPAAR's Community Engagement Committee. It benefits Adoption is Love Fund and Fostering Love Project - two local nonprofits that were founded by Realtor® members of SPAAR! (Pack The Bus has also partnered with Saint Paul's Wilder Foundation).
Have you completed COE? Have you notified SPAAR?
If you have completed your National Association of REALTORS® COE requirement for the current two-year period (Jan. 1, 2017-Dec. 31, 2018), but have not yet notified SPAAR, be sure to forward your certificate of completion to SPAAR at coe@spaar.com. The organizations that offer COE do not inform SPAAR when someone completes this requirement. There are six months left to complete your COE and notify SPAAR that you're done!
SPAARky says:

Wear your REALTOR® ID. Always wear visible identification such as a company badge. It presents you as the professional and an expert, and it allows clients or open house visitors peace of mind knowing who is in charge and helps establish trust.

SPAAR members have shared some great tips, too, including:

" I often suggest people bring along a pair of socks, especially in the summer when sandals are popular. This way, they can remove their shoes if requested but don't have to feel funny walking around in their bare feet."

"I do quite a bit of showings in more rural areas so I always drive the route first so I know exactly where to go and can direct my clients with confidence."
What is your #1 safety tip to share?

In keeping with the safety theme introduced in this newsletter, what is your #1 safety tip?

Share your safety tip and provide your name and email by sending an email to Jennifer at jkovacich@spaar.com and you will be entered into a $25 drawing at the end of July.

THANK YOU to all who have provided safety tips. Please keep them coming. They're great!
Changes coming to forms on August 1

The MN REALTORS® Forms Committee held its final meeting for fiscal year 2018 on May 23.
There will be residential and commercial forms changing within the MN REALTORS® forms library. The revised forms will be released and become effective on August 1, 2018. Members should begin using the revised forms on and after August 1.
Stay tuned for a detailed description of what is changing or log into Minnesota REALTORS® to learn more.
"Take me out to the ballgame!"
SPAAR's Metro YPN is ready to root on the home team as they take on the New York Yankees in September. SPAAR has a limited number of reserved seats and space for you, with some food included in the ticket price. The event is open to all REALTORS® and Affiliate members providing an opportunity to network and grow your business. Make your vote count to reauthorize the National Flood Insurance Program
The National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) is a vital program to homeowners in Minnesota, and is essential to the success of REALTORS® both locally and nationally. Yet, the program is set to expire on July 31, 2018, and we must act now to tell Congress to reauthorize the program because for each month that NFIP lapses, 40,000 property sales nationally, and many right here in Minnesota, are at risk, threatening the ability for people to buy homes and for REALTORS® to earn a living. Help sought where natural disasters have occurred in Minnesota

The Minnesota REALTORS® is working in coordination with the National Association of REALTORS® - REALTORS® Relief Foundation to ask for a contribution to assist fellow Minnesotans in areas impacted by rapid flooding in southern Minnesota and a tornado touchdown in Bemidji.

This devastating reality impacted residents, including REALTORS®, in southwest Minnesota on July 2 from the storms and in Bemidji on July 3 from the tornado. In all, there were 36 counties in Minnesota declared disaster areas by Governor Dayton.

SPAAR REALTOR® members earn GRI designation
SPAAR REALTORS® John Peck and Verna Campbell were recently awarded the highly-acclaimed national Graduate REALTOR® Institute (GRI) designation. In completing the required curriculum, Peck of RE/MAX Results in Shoreview and Campbell of Realty Group, Inc. in Coon Rapids, join other top REALTORS® in the residential real estate industry from across the nation who hold this designation.

Additional information about the Institute and other educational opportunities for professional real estate agents may be obtained by contacting the Minnesota Association of REALTORS® at 800-862-6097. Congratulations to John and Verna!
RealSatisfied: a new benefit for SPAAR members
How is RealSatisfied working for you?

SPAAR now provides RealSatisfied as a free, member-only benefit. Rolled out to all members in February, this tool is designed to help REALTORS® be more competitive in the real estate marketplace.

Brokerages and managers are not required to take any action to implement RealSatisfied, as the tool has been purchased by SPAAR for individual SPAAR members; however, if an office wants broker access the broker dashboard may be purchased for $600 per office annually.

RealSatisfied has information to get started and tutorials to learn how the tool works.
Taking a poll: book club and Toastmasters may come to SPAAR

Preliminary plans are in the works to make both a book club and Toastmasters available to SPAAR members in the coming months.

To get a sense of participation, SPAAR is reaching out to ask if you would be interested in taking part in one (or both) of these member opportunities.

The book club would likely be held each week on Friday mornings at SPAAR in St. Paul with a focus on business books. The Toastmasters group would likely meet twice a month with a day yet to be determined.

Please email Jennifer Kovacich at jkovacich@spaar.com if either of these opportunities are of interest to you, or you want to learn more.
