SPAAR REALTORS ® praise Commitment to Excellence

"I felt true joy when I was asked to agree to the REALTOR® Pledge of Performance upon my completion of C2EX," said Paul Sigurdson, a SPAAR member and REALTOR® advisor with Engel & Völkers in Minneapolis.
To encourage an ongoing commitment to professional behavior and development, the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) created the Commitment to Excellence (C2EX) program to encourage the professional development of REALTORS® by using a multifaceted approach of online learning and task-based activities to offer opportunities for continuing education and professional growth.
"C2EX was a great refresher for me on real estate topics that are important but not necessarily things I deal with on a daily basis," said Jason Cassel, a 15-year REALTOR® who works with Coldwell Banker Burnet in Apple Valley. During his completion of C2EX, Cassel attended a City Council meeting in Lakeville as part of one of the program's challenges.
The C2EX platform aims to sharpen, expand and engage industry skills while helping REALTORS® track their growth and progress. The online-learning platform takes each REALTOR® through a learning and behavior-change process that concludes in a C2EX Endorsement to be renewed every two years.
Echoing Sigurdson, Cassel said, "one of the benefits from completing C2EX was simply that it makes me feel proud to be a part of the REALTOR® 'R'." Cassel added that while C2EX is a great refresher for seasoned agents, it's also a great learning tool for newer agents.
According to Sigurdson, who has been in the real estate industry for more than 35 years, "More often than not I was pleased with how much knowledge and content I possessed throughout the C2EX process and, in the end, I was more excited to discover what was in store for me in the Learning Topics and Tasks section. C2EX challenged me to explore new ideas and garner new perspectives."
Click here to learn more or get started and take the free self-assessment that measures your proficiency in each of the elements known as the C2EX Competencies. Based on your results, the online platform will generate customized learning paths, recommend experiences, and provide tools and resources to increase your knowledge and enhance your skill sets.

Weekly safety tips as provided by SPAAR and its members
SPAARky says:
Be in charge
Always be sure your phone has a full battery charge or the ability to charge it. In addition, have 9-1-1 on speed dial in case of an emergency.
We like hearing what tips SPAAR members have to share, too, such as:
If you smell natural gas in a house you are showing or have listed, notify the agent or owner immediately with a call made outside of the house. Detection equipment can vary in reliability. Gas companies are likely to come out very quickly for a test using trusted equipment.

SPAAR member named Senior Volunteer of the Year for community service

Congratulations to long-time SPAAR member Bill Tschohl for receiving the 2018 Senior Volunteer of the Year award as presented by the director of the Apple Valley Senior Center on April 25. An Apple Valley resident, Bill has worked to make the city a better place to live over the years. Bill and his wife Nancy have been members of the Apple Valley Senior Center since early 2015. Prior to his semi-retirement in 2012, Bill spent 40 years selling homes in and around Apple Valley.
Bill has been, and continues to be, involved in SPAAR. As a result of his steadfast level of commitment to the association over the years, SPAAR's annual Distinguished Service award was named in his honor and is presented each year at SPAAR's Winter Social.
Pictured above are Bill Tschohl (blue shirt) and Wes Hasbrouck, the 2018 Apple Valley Senior Volunteer of the Year recipients at the award ceremony on April 25. Congrats to both!
