Take a break in your day for Coffee with the President this fall. SPAAR president Man Huynh will be visiting different locations once a month to meet with SPAAR members to discuss issues of interest and answer questions.
These coffee visits will last 60-90 minutes and provide a casual setting for anyone interested to attend.
Join us for the inaugural Coffee with the President taking place on Friday, Sept. 21, at 12:15pm at SPAAR's 325 Roselawn Avenue East location. Register here. Box lunches will be provided.

Stay tuned for future opportunities in October, November and December.
Member report: update on backpack and school supply drive
  1. The 2018 Backpack and School Supply drive, coordinated by SPAAR's Community Engagement Committee, helped prepare local kids with the tools they will need to have a successful school year.  Members contributed backpacks, school supplies and donations resulting in nearly 60 full backpacks contributed to local nonprofits.
SPAAR partnered with area nonprofits to efficiently and effectively serve families in need.  Saint Paul's Wilder Foundation was the recipient of more than 750 notebooks that were distributed to families and children served by Wilder's after-school programs.
"Thank you for the Saint Paul Area Association of REALTORS' donation of hundreds of notebooks to the Amherst H. Wilder Foundation's Tools for School Success Campaign. With your help, more than 1,500 children currently served through Wilder programs will return to school with the backpacks and classroom supplies they need to begin the year ready to learn. These children return to school with confidence and the tools needed to succeed," Michelle Zwakman, vice president of advancement, Amherst H. Wilder Foundation.
SPAAR also partnered with two nonprofits focused on serving children living in foster care programs, Adoption is Love and Fostering Love Project. Noteworthy is that both of these organizations are led by REALTORS® and SPAAR members: Julie Ledy and Kim Graham.
Kim, from Fostering Love Project, said, "The social workers were so delighted to have backpacks filled and ready to distribute to the kids they help."
Want to learn more? Interested in giving back? The Community Engagement Committee has invited Julie and Kim to share information about their organizations with SPAAR members at a Lunch & Learn this Thursday, September 27, at noon. Lunch is sponsored by SPAAR's Community Engagement Committee. No charge, but registration is required. Sign up here for the Lunch & Learn. For information, please contact Joe McKinley at SPAAR: 651-772-6344 or jmckinley@spaar.com.

SPAARky says:

Rely on good neighbors. Inform a neighbor that you will be hosting an open house, and ask if he or she would keep an eye and ear open for anything out of the ordinary.

SPAAR members have shared some great tips, too, including:

" When entering a property I always loudly yell REAL ESTATE COMPANY as it alerts homeowners, pets or even someone who shouldn't be in the property that someone is on site. Making myself loudly known alerts a seller who may have overslept or expected me at a different time. It also allows me to alert other agents. I've been yelling my announcement for more than 40 years. There are no uncomfortable entries here!"

Many hands make for light work

Thank you to all SPAAR members and their families who volunteered one of more shifts on Sept. 15 and 16 as part of the St. Paul Side by Side meal-packing event to help feed people in our communities.

Coordinated by Stillwater-based Meals from the Heart, the 500-plus volunteers made up of SPAAR members, East Side of St. Paul faith organizations and community members, a total of 201,096 meals were packed!

KSTP-TV covered the meal-packing event, and local food shelves are receiving the meals this week.

RealSatisfied: a new benefit for SPAAR members
"RealSatisfied allows me to show my professionalism without having to pester clients. The feedback and referrals that I've received as a result of this system are awesome!"
-Bob Clark, SPAAR member and past president
How is RealSatisfied working for you?

SPAAR now provides RealSatisfied as a free, member-only benefit. Rolled out to all members in February, this tool is designed to help REALTORS® be more competitive in the real estate marketplace.

Brokerages and managers are not required to take any action to implement RealSatisfied, as the tool has been purchased by SPAAR for individual SPAAR members; however, if an office wants broker access the broker dashboard may be purchased for $600 per office annually.

RealSatisfied has information to get started and tutorials to learn how the tool works.
