On October 18th Archbishop Leonard P. Blair ordained Bishop Juan Miguel Betancourt as the ninth auxiliary bishop of Hartford.

Bishop Juan Miguel Betancourtt was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He was ordained to the priesthood on April 21, 2001. He is fluent in Spanish, English and Italian, and has proficiency in other languages. Some of his previous assignments include professor of sacred Scripture at the Pontifical University of Puerto Rico; associate academic dean and vice rector of formation at the St. Paul Seminary in Minnesota; and local superior at the Casa de San Jose in St. Paul.

Addison Davis '19 was crowned Miss Polonia Teen USA. It was a very long day and night in NYC but she did it! She competed in 3 categories.

St. Paul Athletics 
 
Girls Swim finished their regular season and are preparing for the NVL Dive & Swim Championships which will take place next Thursday & Friday at Kennedy H.S. in Waterbury.  The girls program saw a spike in roster size and had a very competitive regular season.  Coach Martin is excited about the progress that was made in the pool this year. They also com competed in the city swim me et on Saturday, October 13. They came in second following Bristol Eastern and beating out Bristol Central. Congratulations!!!
  
 
The Boys Soccer team currently is ranked 4th in Class S and in the NVL standings.  Their win last night improved their record to 10-1-3 with 2 games left in the regular season; tonight vs Seymour at 6:30 and Thursday for their senior night vs. Crosby at 6:00.  If the boys win at least one of their remaining two games they will host a first round NVL tournament game on Saturday.
 
The Volleyball team currently is ranked 6th in the Class S standings and will host an opening round NVL Tournament game on Saturday.  The girls look to finish off their regular season on a high and improve their standings as they prepare for state tournament play for the first time in 10 years.  There remaining games are at Wolcott tonight, home on Wednesday at 5:00 vs. Innovation, and on the road next Tuesday at Terryville.
 
The Girls Soccer team will complete their regular season tonight on the road vs. Sacred Heart at Municipal Stadium in Waterbury @ 6:30.  A win tonight will secure a spot for them in the NVL Tournament on Saturday.
 
The Boys & Girls Cross Country teams both finished the regular season with winning records and put forth great efforts at the NVL Championship.  The Boys finished in 5th place and the girls finished in 6th out of 15 schools.  As a result of their efforts on the course at the league championship Kailyn Bielecki earned All NVL honors on the girls side while Jordan Rinaldi earned All Iron Division honors and Aidan Reilly earned All NVL honors on the boys side. 
 
The Football team defeated Crosby High School on the road this past Friday night 28-0 for their second win of the season and will take on Wolcott this Friday night @ 7:00pm on at home on McPhee Field which looks to be a great NVL Iron Division match up.
 
 
The Cheerleading team traveled to Middletown H.S. on October 11th for CTs first ever "Game Day Competition", they focused on spirit and crowd leading. This was their lone competition of the fall and represented St. Paul extremely well.
 
 
Winter Sports Update - There will be a pre-season parent / player meeting for all those interested in trying out for boys basketball on Tuesday, October 30th @ 6:30pm in the Cafe.  Other pre-season winter sports meetings will take place in November so stayed tuned for those announcements.  Also, for those student athletes who need to take their baseline concussion test for the winter season there will be testing sessions starting the week of November 5th (times & dates will be posted in school on the TV's).
