As the President and CEO of the St. Petersburg Housing Authority (SPHA), I'm pleased to share with you some updates and news in our Winter Newsletter.


2025 was a year of significant progress. I’m excited about the new opportunities and growth that 2026 will bring!


At SPHA, our mission goes beyond providing housing. We are dedicated to helping residents thrive by creating supportive communities where every individual has the opportunity to grow, achieve stability, and build a brighter future. Your success is at the heart of everything we do.

Historic Gas Plant District

SPHA has expressed interest in partnering on redevelopment efforts for the Historic Gas Plant District that expand affordable housing opportunities in the city.

STEM Field Trip

On December 22nd, SPHA youth went on a STEM field trip to the Tampa Bay Watch Discovery Center at the St. Pete Pier, followed by a boat ride.

Pathways to Progress

On December 19th, SPHA hosted a special event at the Enoch D. Davis Center, to celebrate the accomplishments of participants in our Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program and to recognize the community partners who supported their success. The event, titled Pathways to Progress: FSS Growth & Achievement Annual Seminar, highlighted the progress SPHA families are making toward economic independence.


For 2025, SPHA was proud to celebrate 15 FSS Graduates and 9 new first-time homeowners!

Snack & Chat at Disston Place

On December 9th, SPHA hosted a Snack & Chat event at Disston Place Apartments.

Very Merry Holiday Party

On December 2nd, SPHA hosted a holiday event in Jordan Park. The 4th Annual Very Merry Holiday Party was a fun evening filled with entertainment, activities, and community connection.

Fall Family Night

On November 19th, SPHA organized a Family Night at Disston Place Apartments. Families gathered to take part in Fall-themed arts and crafts with Karrie from the St. Petersburg Library System.

Empowering Youth

SPHA was awarded funding from the Gulf Research Program (GRP) of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine to launch the Gulf Futures 3D project. This initiative introduced cutting-edge 3D technology and immersive learning experiences to youth living in SPHA communities.

Trunk or Treat at Disston Place

On October 30th, SPHA hosted a Halloween Trunk or Treat event at Disston Place Apartments.

Snack & Chat at Clearview Park

On October 28th, SPHA hosted a Snack & Chat event at Clearview Park Apartments.

New Homeowner

On October 22nd, another participant in SPHA's Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program achieved the dream of homeownership. SPHA congratulates FSS Graduate Richard!

Journey to Homeownership

On October 14th, SPHA organized an educational Journey to Homeownership Workshop.

Now that the holidays are over, January is a good time to clear out your garage, attic, or storage areas. Good organization can help you make room for future projects, holiday decorations, or extra storage.
