ASSETS FOR ARTISTS

Assets for Artists is providing artists with new, crisis-focused, distance-learning opportunities that largely retain the intimate cohort-focused style of our in-person workshops. Some workshops translate their usual offerings into an online format, while many cover new topics that focus specifically on current challenges, relief efforts, and opportunities.

All workshops are FREE and held via Zoom, with pre-registration required to keep the cohorts at a size that maximizes participation and peer support.

Folk Arts Fellowship Grant (FAF)
Folk Arts Fellowships provide support to individual artists who demonstrate the highest level of skill and accomplishments in their craft.

Deadline: All applications and support materials must be submitted online by October 1, 2021, 11:59 PM on the deadline day (for activities taking place from January 1 to June 30).
One $5,000 Folk Arts Fellowship and one $1,000 Folk Arts Fellowship Merit Award will be granted each year.

Folk Arts Apprenticeship Grant (FAA)

76 Bellevue Avenue, Newport, RI.
Composed Upon Westminster Bridge,
September 3, 1802
Earth has not anything to show more fair:
Dull would he be of soul who could pass by
A sight so touching in its majesty:
This City now doth, like a garment, wear
The beauty of the morning; silent, bare,
Ships, towers, domes, theatres, and temples lie
Open unto the fields, and to the sky;
All bright and glittering in the smokeless air.
Never did sun more beautifully steep
In his first splendour, valley, rock, or hill;

Ne'er saw I, never felt, a calm so deep!
The river glideth at his own sweet will:
Dear God! the very houses seem asleep;
And all that mighty heart is lying still!
