ARTS AWARD APPLICATIONS DUE SEPTEMBER 30

Submissions for the next round of the ACA's Artist Awards, in support of Newport County artists and arts projects to benefit the community, are due before midnight on Friday,
September 30, 2022. Awardees notifications will be made on October 15, 2022.

Irish Museum Lecture Series
The Museum of Newport Irish History announces the first talk in its 21st Annual Lecture Series, to be presented Monday, September 19 at 6:00 p.m. at Wyndham Newport Hotel, 240 Aquidneck Avenue, Middletown, R.I. 02842, and virtually, via Zoom.

Guest speaker, Dr. Elizabeth Stack, executive director of the Irish American Heritage Museum (Albany, NY), will present a talk titled, “Immigrant Activists: Irish Americans Who Built a Better Society.” Dr. Stack will discuss some of the lawyers, labor leaders, journalists, politicians, and ordinary citizens who advocated for inclusion and dignity for all.

The Arts and Cultural Alliance of Newport County’s announces the post-covid return of its monthly networking event, Arts Around the Fire. The informal gathering for artists and art lovers continues in the Post & Beam room at 140 Broadway in Newport, now known as Cabana, on Wednesday, October 26th from 6-8pm. 
The Alliance’s guest will be the new Executive Director of the RI State Council on the Arts, Lynne McCormack. Meet Lynne and hear about her vision for RISCA’s mission to support RI’s arts and cultural community. Arts Around the Fire is an opportunity for artists, writers, performers and audiences to engage with colleagues about events affecting the cultural community and learn about new ideas and good work being done. 
Arts Around the Fire features a cash bar, complimentary hors d'oeuvres donated by Cabana and an informal atmosphere where artists and art lovers can connect. The Alliance thanks Cabana for their hospitality. Sign up for an artists membership or become a supporting member of the Alliance, a coalition of individuals and non-profits committed to the advancement of arts and culture in Newport County.

The Broadway Street Fair is back!
October 8th from 12-5!

In 2019 more than 15,000 people took a stroll along Broadway, Newport’s historic Main Street and major artery into the city and celebrated the diversity that Newport is known for.

The Street Fair will begin at Equality Park and extend all down to Farewell Street. The day will be filled with music, food, exhibiting artists & makers and local non-profits.
This is a rain or shine event!

We strongly encourage people to WALK or BIKE to the Street Fair. For those that do intend to drive, please note that Broadway will be open to pedestrian traffic ONLY. NO PARKING will be available on Broadway. Please plan accordingly!

Arts Grant Application Deadline October 3

Deadline to complete an application is Oct. 3

Applications are now open for grants to arts and culture organizations, folk and individual artists, arts educators and artists in healthcare. View the video of the all-staff grant workshop.
