Humans Make Plans, and God Laughs
Dear SPN Families,
This is not the message I wanted or expected to be sending to you this week. Unfortunately, due to 20% of our staff needing to isolate, we will be ending the 2021-22 school year on Friday, June 10th at 3:10 p.m. (2:30 for TK and K). Share & Care will be open until 6:00 p.m.
With this week's shortage of teachers and substitutes, our remaining staff has continued to forge on and take care of our school and students excellently. However, in order to reduce further exposures and to continue to provide a safe school environment for all, we believe closing early to be the prudent thing to do.
Please join us on Friday at 3:00 p.m. around the basketball courts for an amended Moving Up Ceremony. You are invited to come into the yard and be seated on the benches. Teachers will share their annual class tributes inside with their classes, but a hard copy of their heartfelt words for their students will be included with the students’ report cards In addition, Friday will be a Free Dress Day for all!
Classroom teachers will reach out with more specific information about class events that have been planned. Again, this early closure is not what any one of us planned or wanted, but is ultimately what’s best for our school community.
For these last few days of school, our Preschool through 7th grade teachers are completing projects, units and lessons as well as helping students reflect on their year of learning here at SPN. This is a time for everyone to appreciate what has been learned and the people who helped with the learning. Thank you for your understanding, your partnership, and all of your big and small contributions to Saint Philip Neri. We wish everyone a safe, healthy, JOY-filled summer. Look for our final newsletter of the year to go out soon.
Warmly,
Ms. Thomas
Principal
Due to staff illness, please phone the office during school hours rather than emailing with any questions or concerns. Thank you.
