Principal's Message

Dear Families,

Happy Advent Season! This week we celebrate the virtue of Hope. Every Wednesday until Christmas break, SLC Wednesdays will include an Advent prayer service. Please take a moment to join the prayer service with your student.

It was an interesting Thanksgiving with very different celebrations this year. Yet, it was still important to take a moment to recognize the abundance we have in our lives. Thank you to our families who are following the county recommendation to self quarantine for 14 days after traveling out of the bay area.

As we watch the COVID-19 numbers continue to rise, I know there is a heightened sense of concern and worry. As illustrated below, we remain in the Purple Tier, where the county risk of COVID-19 is Widespread.

We are tracking these numbers carefully, communicating with the Alameda County Department of Public Health, and following ALL requirements, recommendations and guidelines of the CDC, ACDPH, ACOE, and the State of California. As I have mentioned in the past, information changes daily and sometimes hourly. We will keep you posted on all developments.

Now that we remain in the Purple Tier, for those who have on-site learners, we appreciate your ongoing commitment to self quarantine if you travel outside the bay area, complete the daily health screenings, keep your child home with even one COVID-19 symptom, and follow all the county guidelines.

Picture Make-up/Retake Day: This Friday, photographer Kurt Burton will be on the SPN campus from 1pm - 3pm to take make up pictures for anyone who missed the original photo days or retakes. If possible, please follow the schedule below, and be sure to come masked to this event. Students should wear a white collared shirt with a navy SPN sweatshirt or sweater.

Preschool - K 1pm - 1:30pm
1st - 3rd grade 1:30pm - 2pm
4th - 5th grade 2pm - 2:30pm
6th - 8th grade 2:30pm - 3pm

If your child was photographed in October, you may come by to pick up their photo proof or your photo order at the office.

Virtual Information Night: Please invite any potential new family to attend our Virtual Information Night this Thursday at 7:00pm. They can register for the event on our website at spnalameda.org. See flyer below.

Diocese Christmas Card Contest: Every year, the Diocese hosts a Christmas Card Contest. All entries must be sent to SPN by today! Please send all entries to Mrs. Schmitz at jschmitz@csdo.org. The following criteria apply:

Designs must be scanned in jpeg format of 600 DPI or higher
Designs should be in color
The designs should depict the true meaning of Christmas

ADOPT-A-FAMILY 2020: ***Reminder*** Please consider purchasing gift cards for the Adopt-A-Family program in support of Alameda Meals on Wheels. Gift cards in the amount of $25 to Safeway, Lucky or Target can be brought to the school office or ordered through Scrip. Please use this form if you would like Mr. Carter to process the order for you. Gift cards are due in the office by Tuesday, December 15. If you are ordering cards through Scrip, the deadline to order is December 3. PTG Christmas Event - Photo Booth Cancelation: Due to Alameda County’s move back to the purple tier and the exponential increase in the volume of new COVID-19 cases in our county, the PTG has determined that the previously planned in-person photo booth is canceled. The zoom holiday parties will continue as planned. The pre-ordered gift bags will be available for pick up December 14-16 from 9am-3pm on a cart outside the office. The PTG wishes you all a happy and safe holiday.

All School Mass: Please join us next Tuesday, December 8th for our All School Mass led by the 6th grade. A link to join will be sent via email.

Spirit Day: Our next spirit day is Wednesday, December 9th: Pajama Day! Look for details from the SLC on Wednesday!
