Principal's Message

Dear Families,

As we enter into the third week of Advent, let us be filled with the joy of welcoming Christ into our lives.

Christmas Concert: Although we cannot all gather in church this week to enjoy the excitement, energy and music of the Christmas Concert, Mr. Q is adding snippets of Christmas cheer to each SLC Wednesday video broadcast. Last week, the 1st and 5th grade classes “performed”. Remember to take a peek and see who performs this week. On Friday, there will be a special all school song as part of the Christmas Story performed by the 8th grade. Be sure to look for this as well.

5th graders looking out for Santa:

Christmas Spirit: Students may wear green, white, or red this Thursday and Friday to show their Christmas cheer. Free dress rules apply.

Christmas Story Presented by the Class of 2021: Our 8th grade is busy preparing a very special virtual Christmas Story for our community. We look forward to sharing this with you on Friday.

ADOPT-A-FAMILY 2020: Thank you SPN families for your generosity! So far, we have collected over $2000.00 for the Alameda Meals on Wheels program. We are still accepting gift card donations through Thursday. We know there are so many families in need. Thank you Bobbi Butler and Jenny Feliciano for organizing this very special fundraiser.

PTG Christmas Event: The zoom holiday parties will continue as planned. The pre-ordered gift bags are available for pick up through December 16 from 9am-3pm on a cart outside the office. If you have questions please contact Alex Wanigatunga at mrsaw@me.com. The PTG wishes you all a happy and safe holiday.

Middle School Drama Play: Please join us virtually for the production of "Virtual Fortunes - $1.00". This play is appropriate for fourth grade on up and can be viewed with this link. Hope you and your child can join.

Shelter in Place Order: As you are aware, Alameda County has a Shelter in Place Order as of December 7th. For your convenience, included here is the website outlining the Shelter in Place as well as the Heath Order: Website, Health Order 20-21 relating to Shelter in Place

Key Elements to note

All gatherings with members of other households or living units are prohibited within Alameda County unless expressly permitted under this Order (school, share and care, small cohorts on campus, material pick ups all permitted). This prohibition includes social bubbles and outdoor, social distanced gatherings.
All non-essential travel within or without the County of Alameda is prohibited until further notice.

Returning to Campus After Christmas break: Note the following schedule to return to campus after Christmas break. Also note that everything is subject to change based upon county guidance.

January 4th & 5th: Teacher Work days - No school (Preschool - 8th grade)

January 6th: Preschool returns to campus

January 6th: TK-8 return to school distance learning

January 7th: TK-2 return to campus

TBD: 3rd - 8th grade return to campus

Thank you for your partnership: I really want to thank all of you for your partnership during this difficult time. Thank you for not sending your child to school when they exhibit one COVID-19 symptom and isolating for 10 days; thank you for self quarantining when you travel outside of the county; thank you for following the county health order. Together, by following protocols and county guidance, we will keep our faculty, staff, students and community safe and keep the school open.
