Dear SPN Families,
We are concluding our Lenten journey this week, Holy Week, with several meaningful prayer events and activities including a dramatic Stations of the Cross (today, thank you, 5th graders!), Tenebrae, and a Seder Meal on Holy Thursday. The focus during Lent has been on prayer, almsgiving, and sacrifice, and on Sunday we heard the Passion of Christ and we will hear it again on Good Friday. The darkness of Lent, the solemnity of the season, will give way to Christ’s light and our salvation in the Resurrection on Easter Sunday.
For most of this year's Lent, much of world news and some local news has been dismal and dark. It is important for us to remember that the hope of the Resurrection and the light of God’s love for us are constant, even in the darkest times. During this week, remind yourselves of what is holy in your life, what you are grateful for, and where you feel God’s love most. Faith is remembering the hope and light of Christ even when we don’t necessarily see it or feel it.
Some positive local news is that our COVID cases are still declining. We continue to be vigilant in our efforts to keep everyone safe. Today, every student and staff member received a COVID test kit to be used for a safe return to school after Easter break. Every student must take a COVID test either Saturday, April 23 or Sunday, April 24 and email a photo of the results to Mr. Carter (mcarter@csdo.org). Every student and staff member must submit a negative COVID test to return to school on Monday, April 25. Thank you for your cooperation.
On a personal note, it is a great privilege and honor to be appointed Principal of Saint Philip Neri Catholic School. I consider myself blessed and lucky to be able to return to serve this wonderful community for the 2022-23 school year. I will share with all of you my goals and vision for the future in an upcoming Newsletter. Until then, thank you for your support and encouragement, and please enjoy a lovely and very Happy Easter.
Warmly,
Julie Thomas
Interim Principal
p.s. - I hope you had a chance to see our 5th graders bringing the Stations of the Cross to life today!

7th grade students are welcome to join SJND for a Practice High School Placement Test (HSPT) held on our campus on Saturday, May 7th from 8:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m.
The Practice HSPT is a testing opportunity designed to give 7th grade students experience taking the test and to familiarize them with the format and focus of the HSPT. In 8th grade, students take the HSPT, and their scores place them in consideration for high school classes, as well as scholarships. Parents/Guardians are invited to stay for the morning to meet SJND teachers and students. Student-led tours are available for parents interested in seeing the SJND campus. The day concludes with a pizza lunch for students!
The cost of this Practice HSPT is $50 and the link to submit payment will be included in the confirmation email you receive after registering for the event. To register for this event, use this SJND Practice HSPT Registration Link to navigate to the SchoolAdmin calendar, use the buttons above the calendar to navigate to the appropriate month and date of the event you would like to attend, click on the blue box on that date, and submit the event registration form. Both the event registration form and the fee submission are required to complete registration for the Practice HSPT.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to the SJND Admission Team! We hope you will join us!
Thank you, and Go Pilots!
