Dear SPN Families,
Safety is our top priority here at SPN. We have all been especially focused on our health and safety these past two years due to the COVID pandemic, however, we cannot overlook safety in other areas of our life. At school, the majority of our procedures and rules are designed to ensure physical and/or emotional safety for all. A great way to model safety to our students is with our cars during drop off and pick up.
It is imperative that all of our families and anyone who drops off or picks up students at our campus follow these rules of safety AT ALL TIMES, NO EXCEPTIONS.
Pull up to the curb to drop off/pick up students.
- NO DOUBLE PARKING
- NO MOMENTARY STOPPING AT RED CURBS OR IN NEIGHBORS’ DRIVEWAYS
- NEVER STOP CARS IN CROSSWALKS
- NEVER LET STUDENTS JAYWALK
Gates are open on Fountain and Jackson Streets for both drop off and pick up. Cones, signage, and staff supervision will also be on Van Buren and Fountain to ensure safety. Please be sure to follow these guidelines for the safety of everyone. Thank you.
Our Fun Run event today was enjoyable not just for the students but for the parent volunteers and SPN staff as well (see photos below). We appreciate all of your support including asking friends and family to contribute with donations. Remember that donations can still be made with your link through this week.
Thursday is another wonderful event here at SPN, Celebration of the Arts and Open House (5:30-6:30 p.m.) and Spring Concert (7:00-8:00 p.m.).
-
Celebration of the Arts and Open House (5:30-6:30p.m.) Classrooms will be open for visiting and for viewing student artwork our Art Docents facilitated with our students this year. O'Brien Hall will also be open for the traditional Student Art Card sale. Come purchase your child's card for $5 and see all grades' creative greeting cards. If you are interested in pre-purchasing your student's card, please contact Mrs. Schmitz in the office.
-
Spring Concert (7:00-8:00 p.m.) All students need to be in their classrooms by 6:30pm. The concert will begin at 7p.m. This year's theme is A Song for Peace. Cash donations for Ukraine Relief will be collected after the concert.
- For evening concerts, students typically wear "Nice Free Dress" (description on p. 45 of the Handbook), and for this concert, bright spring colors are the theme! Students may also dress in the theme of "peace and love" (ie clothing with tie dye, flowers, peace signs, or rainbows), but please no jeans or shorts.
- During the performance, students may or may not wear masks based on their personal or family preference.
- In order to limit the number of people in the church, students will be in their classrooms during the performances and come in and out of the church for their specific musical pieces.
- Students will not be released to go home until the Spring Concert is complete. It will run for about one hour.
-
Parking: Please plan ahead as the basketball will not be available for parking.
We look forward to seeing everyone on Thursday!
Warmly,
Julie Thomas
Principal

Annual Pumpkin Trash Project in 1st grade: With the help of Ms. Kristen, 1st grade buried a pumpkin with our lunch scraps in October. We included organic scraps, recyclable wrappings and non recyclable wrappings. We dug it up for Earth Day. The pumpkin was gone except for the stem! We found all of the wrappings still in the ground.
