Dr. Kathleen Grigsby and Malaika Quarterman are the Congressional District 2 Finalists.

Forest Hill had four Gold Key winners and five Silver Key winners in the Scholastic Art Regional competition. Senior Brandon Miner is also a National Gold Medal winner.

The National Art Education Association recognized Renna Moore of Forest Hill High School with the Mississippi Art Educator Award.

Cadet Lt. Col. Kelsee Ford of Murrah High School was named the 2018 JPS JROTC Cadet of the Year. Six other school-level Cadets of the Year were honored at an awards ceremony.

REMINDER: SCHOOLS WILL BE OPEN MARCH 30 & APRIL 2

All JPS schools and offices will be open Friday, March 30 and Monday, April 2. These days will be used to make up days missed due to inclement weather in January. The extended school day schedule will continue through Thursday, April 12.

Teachers and students at Casey Elementary celebrated the annual Casey Arts Festival with a day full of fun and meaningful arts-integrated learning.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Raven Griffin, a first-grade student at Isable Elementary, led the Pledge of Allegiance. She was Miss Isable 2015-2016. She loves to learn and She enjoys reading, singing, and fishing with her daddy.
MOMENT OF INSPIRATION
Rev. Charles Pepper, a Jackson native and Murrah graduate, delivered the Moment of Inspiration. Rev. Pepper is a manufacturing engineer at Eaton Aerospace and serves as a youth director at New Hope Baptist Church.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Kamryn Roberts, an eighth-grade scholar at Powell Academy of Military Science, led the Pledge of Allegiance. He is a member of the National Junior Honor Society, Beta Club and JROTC. His life's goal is to become a lawyer and help his community.
MOMENT OF INSPIRATION
Cameron Tate, a Jackson native, delivered the Moment of Inspiration. He attended JPS Schools and Holmes Community College. He is the Outreach Minister at Daniel Memorial Baptist Church. He has a heart for economic development and an even greater passion for Jackson.
