Frank Adornato
- I am asking for your vote to continue on the SPRR Board of Directors for the calendar year 2016.
I have been involved in sports and fitness for more than 50 years. I began competing in the sport of triathlon in 1985, and I am a 5-time Ironman including two finishes at the Hawaii Ironman Triathlon World Championship in Kona, Hawaii. I have traveled throughout the United States and internationally to train and compete. I have also raced many "fresh start" marathons including NYC (3x) and the Kona Marathon where I was age group champ M 55-59.
My educational background includes a college certification as a Fitness Specialist, complementing a graduate degree in science. I was an invited member of the Fitness Specialist Advisory Committee at Raritan Valley College, and I was the Strength & Conditioning coach for the Somerset Valley YMCA swim teams.
I have written more than one hundred articles on fitness, and I speak to corporate and community groups on the subject of fitness and its positive impact on personal and corporate productivity.
I am the author of several books and many e-books covering a wide variety of topics on fitness, wellness and competition.
I served as President of the Board of Directors for RAPS (1991-1994), an international regulatory professionals society, and as President of the Board of Directors for the Kaulana HOA in Kona Hawaii (2006-2010). I believe I can continue to provide a service to the Board and the SPRR members based upon my background, education, and experience.
Thank you.
NOTE: Frank has also served as President of the SPRR Board of Directors this past 2015 year.

Kelly Shotts -
Kelly is a relatively new runner. The freedom of needing nothing but a pair of shoes and being able to dash off, whenever and wherever, always held appeal, but was something she thought she could never do. After surviving (and relishing!) forced runs during a boot camp class and hearing stories from friends and co-workers about the fun they had doing RAGNAR relays, she was finally compelled to take up the sport. In April 2014, she started training on her own using a free app. Luckily, a neighbor and SPRR member, Nancy Brannan, spotted her struggling around the sidewalks of the 'hood and reported her to Ben Fudge, who was gracious enough to save her from her smart phone and provide her with real training. Shortly after, she joined the St. Pete Road Runners and began participating in group runs. The first Beach Race of 2014 was her first ever 5K. Since then, she completed the entire Beach Series, as well as several other 5K's, including one in Canada. She also ran the Miami-to-Key West RAGNAR with the Conchy Tonchin' Team in February 2015.
Kelly moved to St. Petersburg in 2008. She has a Masters in Marine Science. She lives with her elderly cat, Valentino (Tino), she found as a stray on an island on Valentine's Day 1998. In addition to running, she loves stand-up paddle boarding, hiking, biking, and travel, as well as more sedentary pursuits such as live concerts and local theater.
Kelly is very appreciative of the guidance, support, and friendship she has received from Ben and all of the St. Pete Road Runners, and would be honored to serve on their Board of Directors.
Meghan Brunelli
- Originally from Rhode Island, Meghan Brunelli decided to make Florida her permanent home in 2001 after finishing a bachelors in communications at the University of Tampa. She spent a decade working hard to make several bosses richer before she embarked on a "second-chance journey," quitting her day job and enrolling in a Biology degree program at St Petersburg College. She will graduate from USF with a master's degree in Library and Information Science this summer, as well as from St. Petersburg College with a Web Development Specialist Certificate. Meghan began running in 2009 after a 21-day tour of Italy caused her to outgrow every pair of shorts and elastic waistband skirt that she owned. Since then, she has run about 40 5Ks, 40 half-marathons in nine different states and one in Niagara Falls, Canada. She made her ultra-running debut at this year's Tick Tock Ultra in Lakeland, completing 45 miles in 12 hours, and she has several more long-distance adventures lined up for 2016. Meghan resides on the other side of the Skyway, with a yard full of chickens and wild hogs. Taca, a stray dog she snuck home from Puerto Rico, is the reigning champ of the Gulfport Flying Mullet One Mile Doggie Dash.
Samantha Tallyn -
Hello, my name is Samantha Tallyn. Per the request, a little bit about me:
I moved to St. Petersburg with my husband almost three years ago from Pensacola, FL. I am currently an accountant for Morales and Associates. I started running a few years ago and fell in love with running after my first 5K. I have run with the Road Runners for the speed workouts and starting joining the weekend runs as well. I have completed three half marathons and am currently training for my first full marathon in November. I also enjoy surfing, yoga, and climbing.
In St. Petersburg, I have recently served on the board for the St. Petersburg Young Professionals as their Leadership Development and Treasurer. I have various experiences with event planning, membership, fund raising, sponsorships, and finance. I love working with others and would love the opportunity to work on the SPRR Board of Directors and with the club members.
Kim Fudge -
I always loved running... it was something you could do by yourself, and under your own power. You could go in any direction, fast or slow as you wanted, fighting the wind if you felt like it, seeking out new sights just on the strength of your feet and the courage of your lungs. -Jesse Owens
I have been involved with running at various levels for over forty years. I started running when I was just eleven years old, but I really didn't know what I was getting into! My father, Ben Fudge, had been running for five years when he encouraged my brother and me to try the sport. I think that he saw the positive opportunities that running had offered him and wanted the same for us. Also, the early seventies was an especially heady time for young girls and women to participate in races. The support for us was very strong despite the infamous photograph of Jock Semple's attempt to pull Kathryn Switzer from the Boston Marathon!
The very first running club that I joined had its own women's team. I remember being amazed at the ages of some of the women- could you be over 30 or even 40 and really run? Weren't these women too old? Now here I am at 54 eating my own words!
I spent my teenage years running intensely, logging 50-70 miles per week and even completing my only marathon (thus far!) at 14 years old. When I reached my twenties, I wasn't running at all due to a back injury. I made a comeback at 32 shortly after giving birth to my youngest son and I haven't stopped since! Currently, I enjoy running in half marathons and entering a trio of races throughout the year with my oldest son. I also enjoy yoga, strength training and hiking. Although I have traveled back and forth to the St. Petersburg area for more than 6 years, I still consider myself a new resident- having just married club member Ernie Glode on June 27th!!
Prior to moving to the tropics, I was an active community member in my hometown of Andover, MA, serving on the Youth Board of my church for 3 years in addition to being a
part of both the school and district wide Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). I also worked as an advocate for special needs children and a reading specialist in the state of Massachusetts.
I believe I possess the energy, enthusiasm and organizational skills to work on behalf of the greater SPRR community.
