What better way to say "I love you" than in a song from the heart. More than 150 people gathered at Atria Senior Living in Rye Brook to hear Phoebe McBride Madden and her singing partner Michael DiMuccio sing love songs from Broadway musicals. The February show was brought to the residents of Rye Brook through the generosity of the Fanny & Svante Knistrom Foundation.

Ian Gallagher Delights with Tunes From Ireland
I
n March, lovers of Irish music gathered at Westchester Burger Company, Rye Brook, to sing and dance to the music of Ian Gallagher and his band. John Cunningham Reads From "Pretending to Be Someone Else" to a Packed House
Stage and screen actor John Cunningham read from his soon to be released memoirs to a large gathering at the Wainwright House. Pictured above is SPRYE Board member and Co-chair of the Program Committee Isobel Perry, John and his wife Carolyn. Interest in John's career and forthcoming memoir was so great that part two will be scheduled in the fall.

Port Chester resident Dolores Anselmo stopped by the SPRYE office to pick up her tickets to see the comedy musical "The Wedding Singer" at the Blind Brook High School.
Dolores believes in being active in the community and enjoys attending plays and musicals in and around NY.

SPRYE Visits The
Westchester Children's
Museum
SPRYE board members recently visited the Westchester Children's Museum at Playland. Executive Director Tracy Kay gave a tour of the museum with WCM Board President
Carolyn Carr-Spencer. Children, parents and grandparents are certain to enjoy creating memories at the museum.

Why I Volunteer
Rye resident Joan Gibbons shares why she donates a couple of hours a week teaching yoga.
"
I like to give back to the community," said SPRYE member Joan Gibbons when asked why she volunteers her time offering yoga instruction twice a week.
"Yoga is a way of life for me," she explained, adding she's been teaching yoga for 35 years. Joan offers the one hour classes at the Port Chester-Rye Brook library,
where she has gained a strong following.
"Yoga improves posture, balance and flexibility. It's proven to lower blood pressure as well, " said Joan.
Joan reminds everyone that classes this spring are every Monday at 12:30 p.m. and Friday at 11:30 a.m. She also advises to wear comfortable shoes and clothes.
The sessions are free and open to the public.
The spring session ends June 14.

Paul Hicks will discuss his latest book "The Litchfield Law School: Guiding the New Nation" at the Rye Free Reading Room. Paul makes a convincing case that the law school provided the most innovative and successful legal education program in the country for almost fifty years.
